"Argh!" He offered a scream of pain as he fell to a single knee. His other bent under him, as his gloved palms rested on his raised knee. A sword fell next to him in a heavy thud. Its silver blade speckled with crimson blood.
A gloved hand rose to gently touch the growing pain that was forming on his left side. Wincing at the pain he felt there, he had no idea what to do. His fingers gently pressed into his skin, finding his wound, and sliding in, passing through the warm and thick fluid. Screaming again, he yanked his fingers out of his gash. His eyes lowered to the blood that had found its way through the rough material of his blue tunic. He remembered his old friend, the old King fish that gave the tunic as a gift to him. A gift for a promise. The promise of saving the Water Temple and his people.
His breath came in hard hitches as he tried not to panic. It was just a flesh wound. He got them all the time. Just one sip of a red potion, sold for 50 rupees at your local shop and he would be fine. Or even a sip or two from the scrumptious milk from Lon Lon Ranch.
His blue hued eyes started to blur. A hot liquid burned at his eyes, like the lashing stings of a Iron Knuckle's axe. The pain was atrocious but he put it off as nothing but his growing tears that caused his eyes to falter. Long blond lashes rested against the pink crests of his cheeks. Lips parted to let a soft moan of pain escape them. Falling backwards, he sat on his bottom. His brown gloved hands clutched his side, it felt as if something had shattered inside his failing body.
There was a soft twinkle sound to his right. Opening his eyes, he turned slowly. A cascade of pain shooting through his body as he turned. Straining his eyes, he murmured softly. "..Navi. I hear you… Where are you?" The man lifted the limp fairy up. Raising it to his lips, he pressed the soft flesh of the fairy against them, giving her one last kiss. "I thank you, for all of your help. Good-bye, my Navi." Gently he set her down on the emerald green grass. Another haggard gasp escaped his lips.
He spoke to no one as he threw his head back. "I…I think I am dying." Staring up at the blurry sky above. He could see the star's lights were starting to dim and fade. The sun was about to rise soon enough. A smile played onto his lips. He had done what had been expected of him. He had played the role as the perfect Hero of Time. But now his time as the hero was done. His time was now to fade off into the darkness, just like the stars did. As a new day comes, another one ends. A newborn life eventually fades. Seventeen years ago, his mother fought to get him extra time on this earth. And now, his time was over.
So that was it. A one shot story. Perhaps I will write another, to tell you why he died, and who killed him. Or perhaps I should leave that up to you all.
Have a good night.
