Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, but I do own a rubber band, it is actually on my wrist right now.

Rubber Bands

She had started out with rubber bands. They were easy for the three years old to shoot at others, and she had exceptional aim for being so young. Of course her antics got her in to huge amounts of trouble, but she still shot away like it didn't bother her at all.

As she got older though, she realized she liked throwing... sharper things. Of course that meant that she couldn't shoot at people anymore. Which was fine with her, because in all honesty people were slow.

As she got older and her interest in sharp objects increased, she excelled and trained harder. Not only because she liked sharp things, but because she was a girl. Because she was a girl she had to prove herself to everyone around her. She had to prove that she wasn't some wimpy girl who just wanted to become a ninja because she would be able to meet strong boys. That wasn't the reason at all.

She especially had to prove herself to him.

She had grown interested in him when she was younger and still liked shooting rubber bands. Most people hadn't been able to dodge her onslaught of rubber, except him. She never figured out how he dodged it. She had been aiming at the back of his head, and as far as she knew only mommies had eyes in the back of their heads. So how had this boy dodged it? So she started following him around. He had been the one to introduce her to pointy objects, and he was the one who trained with her.

She was determined to one day hit him.

So on the day that finally happened she hadn't expected it. They had been training since sun up, and he had been going extra hard on her. She wasn't actually sure why, she hadn't done anything that she knew of to anger him. Maybe her weakness angered him. So she was going as hard as she could as well. Then it happened.

She had just jumped on to a tree branch to dodge a fairly vicious barrage of punches, when she saw an opening. Then she threw a kunai knife at him. She wasn't sure if she hit him, until she saw a little cut on his cheek. "I got you!" She yelled victoriously.

"No, I got you." He said. Then he charged jumping up to the branch tackling her to the ground.

When she hit the ground, she didn't even notice it. She did notice the concern on his face when she let out an moan of pain. "Ouch." She mumbled. Then she looked in to his eyes. She had never noticed how beautiful they were. Like snow. Then she kissed him. It was a short sweet kiss that made her heart come out of her rib cage. When their lips disconnected, they just stayed as they where for a while.

"What now?" He asked.

Then she hit him with a rubber band. "I got you this time Neji." She smiled, and he smiled back, both of them sharing the secret joke. Then they kissed again, and they both knew she had gotten him good.
