I'm really sorry that this first chapter is short, but I promise that once it gets going, it will be a lot better.

Because I Knew You
by Erika Currier
Ch.1
"Who can say if I've been changed for the better, but,
Because I knew you,
Because I knew you,
I have been changed..."
Glinda looked up from the crowd, off to the distance, and there, in brilliant white clothing and ivory skin, stood Elphaba. It was her that had just sung in her beautiful voice with her. It was true, Glinda had been changed by knowing Elphie. Although they had loathed each other in the past, they had become best friends. When first asked, just after Elphie's death, she denied to a citizen that they were friends. She felt her stomach churning as the image of Elphaba faded. She didn't deserve to have Elphie smile at her! She had denied their friendship to all those people, and still Elphie's ghost smiled down upon her. She began to wonder, what about Fiyero? What if he was in this crowd of people and had heard her deny their friendship? Instantly, Glinda knew what she had to do.
"Citizens of Oz!" They all stopped to stare at her.
"I have a necessary confession to make to all of you! I am indeed... a friend of the Wicked!"
And with that, she left in a cloud of smoke instead of her usual bubble. The crowd, disappointed and with no one to turn to without Glinda to guide them, screamed,"No one mourns the wicked, so we've got to bring her DOWN!" The crowd was furious and confused, and ran amok, trying to find anywhere that Glinda could have hidden, trampling plants and everything that stood in their path.
She arrived at Fiyero's castle, the place where she had last seen her friend alive and... well, not happy, but content. Looking for the Grimmerie, she hoped to find a spell that would first hopefully bring Elphie back to life, then another that would bring Fiyero back from exile and reunite the team that had once existed. She found it with its pages damp and old. Feverishly, she pulled out a spell and began to chant.

Sadly, I regret to inform you that I couldn't really think of much more detail to this first chapter, and yes, I did put a cliffhanger there on purpose. Please comment and review.
