Voices of Reason

Marie D'ancanto heard voices.
Most people would say, "I must be going crazy" and promptly see a psychiatrist.
Marie, however, was not most people. Born with superhuman powers, she is a mutant, and her particular ability is to drain the thoughts, feelings, personality, and very life-force from anyone she touched- whether she wanted to or not. And because of this power, she hears voices. She thinks thoughts that are not her own, remembers incidents she never witnessed. Her mind is a jumbled plaything for demons both of her own and of other peoples. She remembers kissing Cody, she remembers being stabbed by Logan, and she remembers being attached to the Magneto's machine. But she also remembers kissing Marie, she remembers having her beautiful flames put out during a fight with the cops, and she remembers every second of her life where she ceased to be Erik and became 14783. She remembers, because she has no choice. Most people can say, "I must be going crazy" and not mean it. But when Marie says it, it may well be true.
