Chapter 4

"What do you mean, Chloe? I haven't given you any reason to think that I don't trust you. I don't understand."

Chloe blinked. "Clark, you haven't trusted me enough to at least tell me what Alicia did. When you couldn't remember anything, you trusted me with your secret and all of your abilities. Even though you didn't have any memory of our relationship, you knew that I would never betray you." Clark dropped eye contact at that moment and shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

Wait a minute….Clark looked at Chloe. She said all of his abilities. What had he done! "Chloe, you have to tell me what happened."

Chloe smiled at Clark hesitantly. Biting her lower lip as she looked into his eyes. Taking a deep breath, "Well…I know about you being able to see through things, your super sonic hearing, and my favorite, fire from your eyes. Oh and of course, the super speed and strength. Did I cover everything?" Chloe sheepishly shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

Clark's mouth dropped open. She knew all about his abilities and she wasn't looking at him like he was a freak. She was smiling at him. "Oh, I forgot one!. Do you remember when Dawn Stiles took over your body at Prom?" Clark closed his mouth with a snap and gave her a slight nod looking at her warily. "I also know that the green meteor rock makes you sick." There, it was all said. Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. Clark still sat there starring at her.

Clark licked his lips nervously and broke eye contact. "Chloe, I can explain…"

"Clark, before you tell me that you were affected by the meteor rocks, let me tell you that I won't believe you. I think that you are something else entirely." Chloe raised her eyebrows at him and waited for his response.

Clark paled and moved restlessly in his seat opening and closing his mouth like he was trying to find something to say. He got up and walked to the middle of the loft. He was restlessly wringing his hands. "Chloe, why would you think I wasn't affected by the meteor rocks? I mean, everyone else in Smallville with special abilities has been. What makes me different?"

"Well, for one thing everyone else who has been affected by the meteor rocks only have one ability and it is usually what they were doing at the time a meteor rock hit near them. How do you explain all of your abilities? There is no way that you could have been doing all of that at the same time, besides you are the only one that I know that gets sick around meteor rocks." She paused waiting for Clark to respond. He had picked up a paperweight from off of his desk and was absently shifting it from hand to hand. She thought there for a moment, she had lost his attention until she saw his profile. He was deep in thought, starring at the object in his hand intently.

Clark didn't know what to do other then risk everything and go ahead and tell Chloe the truth. In actuality it would be a relief to not have to hide this from her all the time. Chloe was smart and she had many questions about him, but because he asked her to, she had let it go, despite her curiosity. He owed her the truth. She almost knew everything as it was. Clark took a deep breath and turned to look at her. He walked over to where Chloe was sitting and sat in front of her on the coffee table in front of the couch. He took her small hands into his. He sat there for a moment looking at their hands. Decision made he raised his head to look into Chloe's eyes.
