A short one-shot about one of the stranger couples in The Belgariad & The Malloreon
I've just read The Belgariad and The Malloreon nearly non-stop, and was thinking about the many ships contained within, when this popped into my head.
All it ever took was a sideways look and a self-satisfied smile,
To make him run from her.
But she would always follow,
Like a determined, constantly watching shadow,
Un-detachable and silent.
And like one scared of the dark,
He bound his eyes
And hid from the light
To avoid his shadow.
Yet even one who is scared of the dark
Will one day view it without fear,
As did he finally look upon his shadow
With wonder instead of terror.
When he viewed her happy, self-satisfied smile
And touched her hand,
His old words echoed in the air between them,
Now obsolete and meaningless:
"Don't touch me."
I like these two together, especially how Relg changes, but they're not my favourite ship. Although I like all of the ships :D
I was a little bit sad there wasn't more about them in The Malloreon, as I'd have liked to see Taiba & Relg together when they're married, but as it's such an amazing story with other wonderful characters, it didn't really matter.
