Roger knew something was wrong with Mimi, he just didn't know what. When he would come over she would always make some excuse to run to the bathroom. She looked so tired lately and worn out. He knew something was on her mind. Something that she couldn't get off her chest. Something that was eating away at her gut. He had been seeing less and less of her and he didn't know why. He pondered. Did he do something wrong? Is she using again? Is their relationship ok? Roger couldn't come up with the answers. Or maybe he just didn't want to come up with them.
" Maybe you should talk to her," Mark suggested, his motherly look in his eyes. Roger wanted to scream. He thought, You don't think I've done that? You don't think I've asked her if she was ok and if she needed help. You don't think I asked if something was wrong, something I did or not? And he was right. Roger had been trying his hardest to talk to Mimi and find out what was wrong. Any and every time they were alone he would ask her if she was ok. He even accused her of cheating and buying drugs again. He tried his hardest to get to Mimi and find out what was up setting her. But the harder he tried the more Mimi would push him away.
" I don't know what good it's going to do but…" He took a deep breath. " Why not?" Mark was smiling with the satisfaction of getting through to his friend for once.
"Now!" Mark added pushing Roger out the door. As Roger walked down stairs to Mimi's apartment he couldn't help but think how much he loved her and how life with out her would be like not living at all. As Roger reached Mimi's door and was ready to knock the door opened.
" I was just about to come see you." Mimi said with a depressed look extended across her face. Roger placed his had on Mimi's shoulder and walked inside with her.
" Are you ok," he asked, worried.
" No, you should sit down" As she guided Roger to her couch she new this wasn't going to be easy.
