Disclaimer: They do not belong to me. If they did, the show wouldn't be over.
Me: You wanted to see me sir? (Slowly enters office)
Admiral: Yes, I was wondering if you knew anything about Commander
Brumby's...death.
Me: I found out a while ago. His wife just came to visit me.It was a very
interesting experience.
Harm: When did he get married?
Me: I don't know. That's not the point though, the point is that we all know
his wife and she has always despised me. I guess she just found a way to
blame me for the murder.
Now Harm was getting worried. Would he ever be able to marry the love of
his life? I went on with my side of the story.
Harm: We all know his wife? Who is this mysterious woman?
Me: Now may not be the best time to tell you Harm. (Long pause) Anyway, Mic's
wife came to my office this morning, although I had gotten the news from the
police yesterday. There were two things about her I thought were weird.
I paused for a moment to see everyone's reaction so far.
Admiral: Please go on.
Me: Well, in the first place, she didn't seem too upset about Mic's death.
Secondly, she had a knife in that expensive purse of hers.
I was leaving hints to let Harm know it was Renee. He wasn't getting
it though. So, I went on.
Me: She asked me if I had heard about Mic. I said I had. she then pulled out
the knife. She had gloves on so her fingerprints weren't on it, then she
handed it to me so I could look at it. My fingerprints are now on the knife.
And I don't know what I am going to do.
Harm: It's okay sweetie, I'm sure everything is going to be just fine.
Admiral, if this goes to trial I would like permission to defend Sarah.
Admiral: Commander, I can't let you do that. You are way to close to the
Colonel. Anyone from JAG would argue inadequate counsel. You are engaged to
her for GOD'S sake!
Me: Who would you assign to defend me sir?
Admiral: Lt. Sims would make a good defense lawyer.
Me: But sir, why Lt. Sims? Why not Lt. Roberts? Lt. Sims is to busy with her
life and planning my wedding. Anyway, she was one of the only ones who liked
Mic and Renee.
Oops! I couldn't believe I had let it slip that Renee was involved.
Harm's face went ghostly white at that moment.
Harm: Wait a minute. Did you just say Renee? Which Renee are you talking
about?
Me: The only Renee that we all know.
Admiral: Are you speaking of Miss Peterson?
Me: She is now Mrs. Brumby.
Harm's face became even whiter and the admiral began choking on his
coffee.
Harm: I never thought of Mic as being her type.
Me: I never thought of her as being your type.
Harm: Don't start Sarah, we've both made mistakes with our love life, but
we're both happy now. Anyway, getting back to Mic, how did you get on the
suspect list?
Me: Mic called me yesterday about four hours before he was killed. He wanted
to see me, but I said no.
Harm: So, what did you two talk about?
Me: Stuff. I admitted that I had kissed you at our engagement party...
Harm looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about.
Me: Remember that one night at the admiral's house? You were waiting outside
for Renee.
Harm: Oh yeah, that night. Tiner almost caught us when he came out and said
that the admiral wanted to see us.
Admiral: So that's what took you two so long to come into the house.
Me: He got pretty upset after that.
Harm: Upset enough to kill himself? That still doesn't explain how you got on
the suspect list.
Me: I don't understand it either, now that I really think about it. That
doesn't matter now anyway, my prints are on the murder weapon.
Harm: You have an alibi though. You were in the office except when you and I
went to lunch. Right?
Me: Yeah, right. Anyway, getting back to the possible trial. Who would
prosecute?
Admiral: Like I said Lt. Sims will have the opportunity to defend you. I may
have to resort to Lt. Roberts for the prosecution.
