Chapter 1
Her green eyes scanned the ship that was towering over her as she gracefully left the carriage, but she wasn't looking at it excitedly like all the other people surrounding her, no, this was to take her to hell. Turning around she forced herself to smile at a well-dressed man, climbing out after her.
"Isn't it wonderful? This ship is going to take us to our new life, where we shall be married," he reminded her, as joyfully as his class would allow.
"Yes, I can't wait," she replied, faking enthusiasm, while inside she was trying to stop herself throwing up.
It had been her mother's idea for her to get close to him, "Storm darling, think of the money, the life he could give you," her mother's voice echoed in her ears. If she had known she was going to have to fake being in love with him and take a voyage to the other side of the world she would have never agreed, but she was in it now.
After their bags had been unloaded and sent up to the ship, the RMS Titanic Storm and her soon to be husband, Barnard moved to board. Inhaling deeply, she placed one foot on the gangplank, closing her eyes; this is where her life ended.
"Come on darling, people are waiting," she heard Barnard call and she glanced back to see two scruffy looking men standing a little distance behind her. Smiling apologetically to them she moved up, taking the hand held out for her.
"Let me show you to our room my dear, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised," he smiled and she returned it, really wanting to cry.
A young man ran along the ship's edge with his friend Donatello, glancing up repeatedly at the massive form.
"I can't believe it Don, we got on it, we got on the Titanic!" he cried out in glee as his friend cheered beside him.
"How you managed it Kai is beyond me," Donatello laughed, following his friend as he sped up.
They slowed down, falling silent as they reached the gangplank, Kai looking up at a woman who was blocking the way.
"Come on darling, people are waiting," he heard a man standing further up call and the lady turned around to look at them. She was quite stunning with wisps of her ink black hair falling about her face, framing her green eyes. He followed her with his gaze as she moved gracefully along the gangplank, grasping the hand of the man that had previously called her, being drawn back to reality as Donatello pushed him slightly.
"You dun'a have to push me Don, I could have fallen into the water, and ya know me mam never taught me to swim," Kai scowled in his Irish accent, before being dragged onto the boat by his friend.
