hey everyone. i have desided to start a new Fanfic, but its ok cause this is a one shot. so its completely finished. im still shocked that i managed to do a one shot. most of the storys i have going where suppose to be one shots. this story is based off the song Goodbye For Now by P.O.D.
Summery: The battle for Naraku is over and they have won. just when Miroku thinks his life is going to have Sango in it, she changes things. even though they have defeated Naraku, Kohaku is still missing. So Sango goes to search for him. Miroku promises he will wait for her...but can he? songfic.
Disclamier: I do not own Inuyasha or the song thats playing. I do however own Kaze and Serenity. (you meet them later)
Goodbye for now
Miroku was in a state of shock.
He had finally done what he had sought out to do in life.
They had defeated Naraku.
after about 4 years of endless searching and fighting they had found his Castle. they had found him on his night of weakness thanks to Kagura who had been helping them.
She had convinced Naraku that they were father away from his castle then they really where and to use this chance to strengthen himself.
with the help of Koga, Sesshomaru, and Kikyo they quickly forced their way into his stronghold.
But in the end it was Kikyo and Kagome who took down Naraku. They combined their Miko power into one last burst of energy. That was all it took to destroy him and get everyone's revenge.
Inuyasha's for putting him and Kikyo against each other.
Kagome for messing up everyone's lives
Koga for his fallen clan
Sesshomaru for kidnapping Rin
Miroku for his wind tunnel and his family
Sango and her brother
Kagura was finally free
and Kikyo was finally able to rest in peace.
but it had come with a heavy price. No one had escaped the battle un-hurt, not even Shippo. But thanks to Sesshomaru's sword, no one died.
Miroku surveyed the people rejoicing in front of him.
Sesshomaru had already left shortly after Naraku was defeated. so did Kagura.
Inuyasha finally confessed to Kagome that he loved her, which she replied with something like "took you long enough" and threw herself in his arms.
Koga was talking with Ayame while holding her hand.
Shippo was resting on his shoulder, watching everyone as well.
And Miroku.. He smiled as he looked down at his hand, no longer needing to cover up the wind tunnel because there was none. he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
'Father.. Grandfather... I have defeated Naraku. with the help of my friends. you may now rest in peace.'
He opened his eyes with a smile on his face and searched for the person he wanted to be with now that he had a future to offer her. But when he found her, his smile faded.
Sango..
She was hugging Kirara, who was still in her larger form, and sobbing into her. When they had defeated Naraku, she was so happy cause that meant Kohaku was released from his grasps, but they couldn't find him anywhere. He was not in the Castle, when they asked Kagura where he was, all she could tell them that he was still alive but she didn't know where he was. He had run away from the Castle the night before and no one had heard from him or seen him since.
(I can still see the light
at the end of the tunnel shine
through the dark times
even when I lose my mind)
before they had confronted Naraku Miroku had told Sango that he loved her. She had blushed and said she felt the same. He thought he could never be happier in that one moment when they promised that when they defeated Naraku that they would get married.
But as he looked over at Sango's broken figure on the ground still crying, now into Kagome, he knew that she would break that in search for her brother.
He felt one tear slid down his cheek.
(But it feels like no one
in the world is listening
and I can't ever seem
to make the right decisions)
They all decided that they would make a trip to Kaede's after to tell her the good news and to get healed up and allow Kagome to go back to her time for a while since she hadn't been there in about a year and tell her mom, grandpa, and Sota about their victory. She promised that she would be back in a few days.
When they told Kaede, she looked relieved to find that Kikyo had found eternal peace. But she was sadden when they told her the Jewel was not complete. Kagome had come to the conclusion that it would be better if the jewel was not complete and let Koga keep the ones in his legs. They all knew that Kohaku had one still in his back, but they did not mention it.
Sango just sat in the corner of the hut, lost in thought. Miroku knew what she was thinking and planning, he could see it in her eyes when the battle had ended.
Soon she would leave him forever.
Miroku stood up and brushed himself off "I think I'm going for a walk."
and without waiting for anyone to say anything, he left.
His walk ended up taking him back to the village into a small tea house where he could get some sake. As soon as he walked in the door he was encircled by women. he knew he could not lie, during the 4 years they had been hunting Naraku, he had been training. Which meant that he was nicely built. His hair had gotten longer, but so had everybody else's, except Inuyasha who said it was a demon thing.
He put on a forced smile "hello Lady's"
(I walk around in the same haze
I'm still caught in my same ways
I'm losing time in these strange days
but somehow I always know
the right things to say)
after about a hour or so of this, he left to go on a real walk, except his vision blurred slightly due to his drinking. But he didn't care. The girls at the tea house called for him to stay, but he just kept walking. Yes those girls were beautiful, but they were not Sango.
His mindless walking lead him to the Sacred tree. he wondered to himself why his footsteps would take him here. He walked up and put his hand on the tree. he could feel the aliveness of the tree, he could feel the warmth of the tree. He could almost feel the spirit of the tree.
He sat down on one of the roots and leaned against it and closed his eyes and fell asleep.
...X..x..X...
Sango was thinking about the Houshi. He had left a while ago with a sad look on his face and hadn't returned. She sighed, they had defeated Naraku after 4 years with her to end up with nothing. Kagome had already come back. She just couldn't leave the feudal era for long. it had become her home. and they were her family now.
But Sango's family was still broken.
She knew that she was going to leave soon and go on a search for Kohaku. She just couldn't leave him out there. But she didn't want to leave the Houshi at the same time. She knew she loved him and didn't want to be away from him. but she knew she couldn't ask him to go with her on this one last mission. It would be asking to much.
She was going to have to tell everyone that she was leaving... She was going to have to break the engagement with Houshi-sama.
Two tears fell as she stood up "everyone.. I have something to say"
(I don't know what time it is
or whose the one to blame for this
Do what I believe what I can't see)
it had started to rain. That's what had awaken Miroku. Even though he was awake, he didn't feel like moving. He felt safe here, like nothing could touch him. He was at peace here. He heard a branch break and his eyes snapped towards the sound, reaching for his staff that was stuck in the ground beside him.
"Houshi-sama"
a small smile made its way onto his face when he saw it was Sango walking towards him.
"my lady Sango, what are you doing out here in the rain?"
"I came looking for you, you never came back to the hut."
his smile grew. she was worried about him "Sorry, I guess I fell asleep."
he reached out his hand for her to take, when she did she pulled her down into his lap and wrapped his arms around her.
"H-Houshi-sama! what are you doing?"
"Holding you. Do not worry Sango. I will keep my hands to myself. The curse has been lifted after all"
His smile grew as she relaxed against him.
(And how do you know
which way the wind blows
Cause I can feel it all around
I'm lost between the sound)
She fit so perfectly in his arms. even thought it was raining, they were dry for the most part. He sent his thanks to the tree for this.
"shouldn't we be heading back now?"
"and ruin Inuyasha's moment alone with lady Kagome? I don't think so. stay here."
"but I'm tired"
"then my lady, sleep. I will watch and keep you safe."
"how are you suppose to protect me for yourself" Sango muttered, but fell asleep all the same.
A lone tear rolled down Miroku's face 'how am I suppose to keep you safe if you leave me?'
..X.x.X...
"Do you think that they are ok?" asked Kagome looking at the door.
"I'm sure their fine. Any minuet now they could walk through the door with Sango looking pissed and Miroku with a red handprint on his face."
Kagome smiled softly "I don't think they will."
Inuyasha looked down at the girl in his lap "why not?"
"She's leaving remember?"
how could he forget "yes but not tonight."
"No she will leave tonight I bet, she's just telling Miroku goodbye."
Inuyasha looked around the room. when he spotted none of her things and no Kirara, he knew Kagome was right.
...X..x..X...
Miroku heard a small rustle in the bushes. He knew it wasn't going to be a large demon. Probably Shippo out looking for them.
he was close, it was Kirara. she darted out from her hiding place and ran towards them. Miroku chuckled softly 'cats hate water'
"what's so funny?"
He silently cursed himself for waking her up.
"your cat"
at that exact moment Kirara jumped into Sango's lap.
"poor thing. Houshi-sama let me up"
She got up and put Kirara down on one of the tree's roots to keep her dry and walked out from the protection of the tree into the rain.
"what are you doing Sango?"
"come on Houshi-sama! come dance with me."
he felt his jaw drop in shock. she was acting like a little girl again. All the same he got up and walked into the rain.
"Come one Houshi-sama. I know you know how do dance."
They slowly danced in the rain.
Miroku looked down at her. Even though she was soaking wet, she was still Beautiful.
he stopped dancing and removed his hand from her waist and raised her face up to look at him and kissed her. He knew this was her first kiss and wanted it to be special.
When the kiss ended Sango didn't say anything for a moment.
"that could get addictive."
Miroku just laughed.
"how did you know I wanted my first kiss to be in the rain?"
He smiled down at her "you can thank Kagome for that."
Even in the darkness of the night he could see her blush.
"and I must confess. I have always dreamed of kissing you in the rain."
(And just when I think
I know, there she goes)
"Houshi-sama. I have to tell you something."
Miroku's smile vanished. he knew this was coming but he didn't expect it to be this soon.
"Your leaving to go search for Kohaku, am I correct?"
She looked up at him in shock.
"I knew this would happen when you didn't find him at the castle."
"I'm so-sorry Houshi-sama but I h-have to call off the eng-engag-engagement."
She was crying now, even in the rain he could see. but what he didn't know was that he was also crying. His heart was breaking.
"I don't want you to w-wait for me to come back. I want you to g-g-go on with your life."
Sango didn't know what to do, she didn't think it was going to be this hard.
Miroku threw his arms around her and held her close. he could feel her tears falling on his shoulder even thought it was raining.
'I'm sure she can feel my own tears as well' he thought
he thought"I ha-have to go now Houshi-sama."
"not until I get this last dance."
And they danced. They danced slowly and silently for a hour. They didn't care that they were going to get sick from being in the rain for so long. all they wanted was to be with each other as long as possible.
Then Sango began to pull away.
"I just want to let you know Sango. That I will wait for you."
"No I don't want you to Hous-"
"don't call me Houshi-sama anymore. Please call me Miroku before you leave Sango."
"Don't wait for me Houshi-"
He cut her off by kissing her one last time.
She pushed herself away and went over and got Kirara, who transformed into her large form.
Sango looked at Miroku one last time, feeling her heart shatter and climbed on Kirara.
"I will wait for you to return. No matter how long it takes. I will be waiting in this village with Inuyasha and Kagome. when you find Kohaku please return here. You can make your choice then if you want to be with me or not."
She smiled one last time.
"I will do that, Goodbye Hou- Miroku."
He smiled back "Goodbye for now My Lady Sango."
Then she flew off, Miroku felt his heart leave with her. and he fell to his knees and cried.
(Goodbye for now
Goodbye for now
So long
Goodbye for now (I'm not the type to say I told you so)
Goodbye for now
So long (I think the hardest part of holding on is lettin go)
We're still smilin as the day goes by
and how come nobody
ever knows the reasons why
Burry you deep so far
you can't see)
It had been two years Sango left. A lot had changed in that time.
Inuyasha and Kagome had gotten married, and already had a baby girl. They named her Tama. they had adopted Shippo as one of their own. They built a hut by the bone eaters well so it wasn't that far away for Kagome to go see her family.
Miroku spent most of his time there helping them with whatever they needed. If he wasn't over there he was helping Kaede. and if he wasn't there, he was at the Sacred Tree waiting. He was there everyday waiting for Sango to return.
Even Sesshomaru had stopped by a few times. Just to insult Inuyasha mostly. They had been getting alone better now. They both had given up trying to kill each other.
Koga also visited regularly With Ayame and their child. Which was also a girl. They had namedher Maya.
(If you're like me
who wears a broken
heart on your sleeve
Pains is troubles that
you know so well
Either time don't
It can't or you just won't tell)
Miroku lived in the same hut as Kaede, telling her that he was protecting her from demons. Kaede knew the real reason thought. If Sango was to come back, she could be seen doing so here.
(And you can sing until
theres no song left (song left)
And I can scream until
the world goes deaf (goes deaf)
For every other word
left unsaid you should
have took the time to
read the sign and
see what it meant
In some ways everybody
feels alone so if the
burden is mine then
I can carry my own)
Miroku was wondering around again. It was night fall and Kagome had to get Tama down to sleep, so Miroku decided it was time to leave. Kaede was out helping someone deliver a baby so the hut was empty. so he chose to go visit the tea house again.
as usually when he walked in he was meet by a crowd of girls. he gave a small smile and walked over to the corner and asked for some Sake.
The girl behind the corner knew him well. she would listen to how his day had went and what was new when he came in here hoping to forget about his broken heart. it pained her to see him in such pain, but all she could do was listen and pour him another drink.
He told her how his day went and what was new with Inuyasha and Kagome and how they were expecting again, this time it was going to be a boy. Kagome had started crying again today wishing Sango would come back before the second child came. She wanted to name Sango godmother. Inuyasha had already named Miroku the godfather.
Miroku was happy to see Inuyasha so relaxed and happy. It wasn't unusually to see him smile or laugh anymore. he still had the pray beads around his neck just in case as Kagome said.
(If joy really comes
in the morning time
then I'm gunna sit back
and wait until the
next sun rise)
It had started to rain. Miroku didn't really care anymore. He was use to the rain. His feet led him to the Sacred tree. He smiled at the tree, feeling connected with it. it always brought him comfort to be around.
He sat down on one of the roots and leaned against the tree. more than once had he had a hallucination of Sango walking towards him when he sat here. every time he did he would get up and walk towards her, his heart singing, only for it to be crushed when the illusion faded and he was alone.
Not really feeling like seeing another false illusion he fell asleep.
(Goodbye for now
Goodbye for now
So long
Goodbye for now (I'm no the type to say I told you so)
Goodbye for now
So long(I think the hardest part of holdin on is lettin it go))
...X.x.X...
Inuyasha's ear's twitched. he heard someone coming outside. He gentally shook Kagome awake when he realized who the sent belonged to. Kagome sat up and started rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "what's going on"
"Kagome"
Kagome looked over at him to see him smiling.
"Sango's at the front door, you should go let her in"
it took her a second to realize what he was talking about before she was out the door, faster than Inuyasha.
...X.x.X...
Sango didn't know where to go, Kaede wasn't in her hut. Kohaku was standing by Kirara.
then Suddenly Kirara meowed and started running off towards the bone eaters well.
"Kirara! wait.." Sango and Kohaku followed.
When they got closer to the well they saw a large hut. Joy leaped inside her as she hoped its where Miroku lived. but to her surprise when she knocked on the door a frantic Kagome threw herself at her.
Sango was so happy to see Kagome again. she looked over and saw Inuyasha standing at the door. Realizing they must have gotten married she smiled more.
"Kagome let the women breath! have I taught you any manners?"
Kagome pulled away and turned to Inuyasha "forgive me, I thought I was teaching the dog manners not the other way around."
Sango just laughed at the small fight going on. then she noticed that Kagome's stomach had gotten larger.
"Oh my god Kagome! are you pregnant?"
Inuyasha and Kagome's fighting stopped. Kagome turned around and smiled. "Its gonna be a boy"
Sango squealed in happiness and hugged Kagome again.
"and Sango, I want you to be the godmother."
Now Sango was crying. "what about Shippo? is he here?"
Inuyasha rolled his eyes "he's in bed hopefully. Kagome needs to stop giving him sugar. His hyper ness doesn't let Tama sleep."
Sango's eyes widened "Tama?"
Kagome smiled more and nodded "our daughter"
This brought on another hug from Sango.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes at the two and looked over their shoulder. Kohaku was standing there not really knowing what to do with Kirara on his shoulder.
There was no sent of death on the boy. he smiled
"Oi, Sango, you should know better than to leave your brother just standing there."
Kagome gasped and looked over at Kohaku. "wait, where's the jewel shard?"
"oh its right here" Sango reached out and gave Kagome the shard.
"thanks to Sesshomaru he doesn't need it anymore."
Kagome went over and shook hands with Kohaku introducing herself. Inuyasha just rolled his eyes.
"wonder where that damn monk went."
Sango's eyes widened. "you mean Miroku?"
"yea, he was suppose to come by later and look after his godchild while we go into town for a while."
"so he's here?"
"well not in here, but somewhere around here. he should be in Kaede's. that's where he lives."
"Actually" said Kagome "I think he's most likely at the Sacred tree again, he goes there everyday to wait for you Sango."
Without another word Sango ran off just as it started to rain.
...X.x.X...
Miroku woke up sharply as he heard a twig break. He looked around but didn't see anything. so he passed it off as his imagination.
He swore softly as he remembered he was supposed to be over at Inuyasha's to watch Tama. So he stood up and began to brush himself off.
he looked up and saw Sango standing there. She was wearing the same thing she had on when she left that day. He cursed himself for thinking she was really back, it was just another illusion. He would just lose his eyes and she would disappear.
When he opened his eyes she was still there now closer to him. Could it be? could it really be Sango?
"Houshi-sama. I've come home to you, Miroku."
Miroku smiled and ran towards her and wrapped his arms around her. His heart was whole once more as he held her. He could feel her tears thought the rain.
'I bet she can feel mine as well' he thought
He pulled away and Kissed her, never getting tired of kissing her in the rain.
when he pulled away he had to ask "is that still addictive?"
She smiled "even more, now come dance with me Miroku."
He laughed, he couldn't ask for a better reunion.
As they danced Miroku looked down at her "I love you Sango.
she smiled "I love you too Miroku."
"If I ask you to marry me, would you break the engagement again?"
She smiled "Never, Goodbye's are to hard. I'm Here to stay with my new Family. You as my husband, Kohaku has my brother, and Kagome and Inuyasha living next door."
"That sounds wonderful to me"
As they kissed again, the rain stopped falling, and the sun rose to begin a new day.
...X.x.X...
Many years had pasted since Sango had returned. They had built a hut next to Inuyasha and Kagome's. Kagome had her baby and named him Kaze. Sango had also had a child, a girl who they named Serenity.
They could never have been happier.
As time went on Inuyasha had begun to notice some things about Kaze, which led him to go over to Miroku's and hit him on the head which caused Kagome to sit him.
"why did you just come over to my house and hit me?" asked Miroku rubbing his head.
"can you tell me why is my son taking after you?"
"my good friend, I have no idea what you are talking about."
"let me put it simple, why is my son taking after you and your womanizing ways?"
Miroku just cocked a eyebrow.
"My son is chasing your daughter like you use to chase Sango!"
"really?" Miroku, Sango, and Kagome went and looked outside just in time for Kaze to say to little Serenity.
"would you mind bearing my child?"
hehe, I thought that would be the perfect way to end it. I hoped you liked it. Leave your comments in a review!
