Highschool can be written about in so many ways. So may lives change, so many people do. And if you're reading this I bet you're there too, in highschool. Or maybe they put this bok in the wrong section again, because no one likes it. It doesn't matter, because I can ramble on forever, but this book isn't about me. This book is about highschool. One version of it at least.
Chapter One: A typical day of Darien's life . . . well maybe not . . .
Darien woke up in his room one morning. It was a day like any other. It was Friday, about two weeks till prom, but that meant absolutely nothing to him. He wasn't the kind of popular guy that went to dances with beautiful girls dressed in gorges gowns. He was the kind of guy that was kind of shy. His room showed it too. It was simple, a small bed, bedside table with an alarm clock on it, there was a table with a computer and books. The chair beside the table had Darien's book bag on it, then was a book case, small cd organizer table with a boom box on it. A small tv a small couch, a closet, laundry basket and a telescope pointing out of the window.
Darien got up, he was only wearing a pair of his usual black boxers. His dark-black hair was messed up. He looked at the clock, it was 6:00 AM. He always woke up this early. He put on home shorts and a t-shirt. He took his cd player out of his book bag and put on the head phones. He checked the cd, it was his usual running cd, a mix of his favorite rock bands. He put the cd player in the pocket of his shorts and zipped the pocket almost all the way up. He ran down to the kitchen of the small house. His mom and dad were talking. They knew his rules. When he had headphones on he wasn't paying attention to anything. Sometimes he used the head phones to listen in on his parents. He grabbed the usual pieze of toast, kissed his mom on the cheek and ran out the door. He jogged around the streets for an hour or so. He got back home, threw his clothes in the laundry basket and headed into the shower. He didn't take long, just ten minuets. He looked in the mirror on top of the sink after putting on a fresh pair of boxers. He touched his chin, it was rough again, like every morning in the last few years. He shaved, brushed his teeth and hair. He went back into his room, he put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, like did before. He put on a pair of running shoes, put his cd player that was on the table, it his book bag and slugging it over his shoulder he headed to the kitchen for real breakfast. He ate scrambled eggs, toast and apple juice. His dad had already gone to work. Darien's a softmore in highschool, so like most of the softmores he had a car. It was old, his mom's, but she didn't need it. Another walmart opened close enough for her to walk to, it was a supper mart, so it had house hold things there too. Darien fixed up the car. He repainted it on the outside and fixed it inside too, it looked barely new. He got his licence almost a year ago.
"Thanks of the breakfast mom, bye." e kissed his mom's cheek again and headed out the door.
"Bye honey, be careful" His mom said smiling.
Darien drove to school, parked in his parking space and headed inside. He always got to school 15 minuets before classes started, most people did to. Some people thought him to be the most luckiest guy in the world. By some office person's mistake, he Darien Shealds got to have his locker right next to the most popular and gorges girl in the hole school. Sarina Tsukino. She was blond, her long light-blond hair went down to her knees when it was down. She was so gorges the words can explain. She had the most beautiful smile, because when she smiled her hole face, her eyes, her nose, even her cheeks smiled. Her eyes, they were the blue oceans of wonder. Darien swore to himself that he could stare into those eyes forever. He knew her so well. When she was sad, which seemed to almost never be, her bangs seemed to fall strait into her eyes and her eyes turned a very light blue when she was about to cry. He's known her since he started kindergarten with her. She was always popular. Ones, only ones in all those years did she talk to him. She asked him for a crayon and they started talking about colors. He smiled every time at the memory. He knew when she was planning something devious she had a sparkle in her eye. She had the most interesting ways to look at a person. He could always tell by her eyes, almost the exact words she wanted to say. Yet to her Darien Shealds was an empty name. She never talk to him, in fact he thought he was invisible around her. He got to his locker and in a second she appeared with her four friends Amy, a dark-blue haired girl with small think glasses, who Darien knew very well, she was in only one of his classes, the advanced Latin. All of her other classes were junior, she was actually thought to graduate early. She was only turning sixteen in the summer. Darien loved to hang around Amy, but he didn't get to much since she became friends with what he secretly called the popular club. Then there was Ray, calling her a fireball was an understatement. When she got mad it was disaster. She had dark-black-purple hair, he couldn't believe it was her natural hair color. Then was Lita, he liked her too, she was as electric as thunder. He was in karate classes with her. She had history and gym with him. 'Damn that girl can hit' Darien thought to himself. He loved Lita's cooking though. She brought it in ones and ever since everyone's been asking her to bring more. Oh and no one can forget the most chattering one of all the girls, Mina. She was all about style, celebrities and was more peppier then anyone in the school. She was blond too. Darien didn't know her well, but ones on a dare she came up to him in the mall and just kissed his lips, he was very surprised, but she apologized for just doing that and pointing at the rest of the girls she told him it was a dare. If Darien could have had his way, it would have been Sarina who was dared to kiss him.
As the girls chattered Darien got his books. He watched a tall boy with dark, long hair, that was pulled back in a ponytail, approach the girls. That was Seya Kou coming. The quarterback of the football team. He could have any girl in the hole school, but of course he had to have the leader of the cheerleading team, the most gorges blond in the hole school. Darien's blond, his dream. He had to have Sarina.
Seya came up to her, his brothers Yaten and Taiki Kou fallowed him, they were on the football team too. He pushed away the girls and came to kiss Sarina, she moved her lips away letting him kiss his cheek. That made Darien smile. He hated Seya Kou with a passion. He opened his locker pretending to be doing something as he listened to Seya and Sarina's conversation.
"Seya, I told you not to do that. "she slapped his hand off her face,
"What's wrong, didn't you want me to kiss you?" He asked simply.
"Ah . . . " Sarina rolled her eyes. "Seya this should be a more private discussion, you know it's more then you just kissing me"
"Fine, be like that." The boy marched proudly away.
"What's his problem?" Asked Lita.
"You know we've been having problems lately. We were talking yesterday and he did it again."Darien quickly closed his locker an walked by the girls. Sarina was wearing jeans and a long sleeved shirt, she hated long sleeves. He saw he lift the sleeve on her right arm and reveal a bruise. Darien bit his lip. He already knew how bad Seya treated Sarina. He hit her, he expected her to do whatever he wanted, but she didn't feel the same way. It took him all of his self control not to run, find Seya and beat him till he was leading, beat him till he promised to never touch a hair on Sarina's head. But Darien walked to class. He loved school for one reason any one reason only. It was that Sarina was in every one of his classes.
In all classes he sat in the first few rows with Andrew. Andrew was his best friend. He was blond and funny. He's known Darien since kindergarten as well. All of Darien's tree classes after lunch, he loved and hated. It was history, math, health. For history his teacher was Ms. Anderson, she was a good teacher. But in the beginning of the year she saw Sarina talk allot, so she moved her to sit on Darien's right, on his left was Andrew of course. Darien's day went smoothly, lunch was not boring or fun. Then came history. He sat at his desk talking to Andrew before the ring of the second bell. Sarina rushed in with the bell as always. 'She might be popular, but she sure know how to be late.'
Sarina practical fell into her desk. Ms. Anderson got up from her chair and cleared her throat, killing all the conversations and making everyone's eyes turn to her.
She wasn't very tall, she was pretty young, a brunette with a sweet smile and glaring eyes. She knew how to take charge.
"Today class I want to talk about your last project of the year. It will be over World War 1. Since your last projects didn't go as well as I planed and since I don't want any of you to fail this project, I will assign partners personally. I will also assign subjects." This made Darien nerves, he hated not knowing who his partner was going to be. He knew it Probably wouldn't be Andrew and he doubted she'd make Sarina his partner. He waited patiently.
Ms. Anderson picked up a list from her desk. "Here are the partners. Amy and Greg, John and Lindsey, Andrew and Lita..." the list continued for a while, Darien was only listening for his name, it was the last. "And last but not least Darien and Sarina."
"Huh?" said Sarina looking up from the desk.
"No sleeping Sarina, you have a project to plan with Darien, his you're partner."said Ms. Anderson
"Darien?" She looked at her teacher in confusion. Darien held back his anger, he knew he was invisible to her.
"Sarina, don't be so rude, don't you ever pay attention, his sitting right next to you" Sarina looked around frantically looking for a new face."On you're left Sarina." Ms. Anderson crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Now class, before I assign topics you have time to get better acquainted with you're partner especially you Sarina" Ms. Anderson went to sit back at her desk and started doing something on her computer as the class got to chattering. Darien saw Andrew and a few other people move around to their partners.
The a hand carefully touched his shoulder, he turned to see it was Sarina's hand touching him "Hey, Darien I'm sorry about that, you must have thought I was acting really stupid." She smiled
"Well . . ." He didn't want to ruin the pleasant moment, Sarina was finely talking to him
She gigged in her girly little way he didn't need to say he thought she was being childish."You know, it's weird I swear you're in all my classes and I've known you as long as I can remember, but some how I don't even know you." She gave a thoughtful look.
'I KNEW IT I knew it, she is smart.' he thought to himself. "I am in all you're classes, always have been. And seems you've known me for so long, because when you're mom didn't have to work all the time she took you to the park and that's when we met. We went to the same kindergarten and school too."
"Wow..." She looked at him with giantly open blue eyes. "Know I feel really bad, I hardly know you and I had all this time to get to know you and I never did."
"That's ok," he smiled warmly, he hated when she was even a little bit sad. "There are people who just don't cross paths."
"I feel like its just mean of me to have done that." She looked down.
"Hey, things happen, but I haven't been known to hold a grudge." He loved talking to her.
"I remember your mom now, she had the most beautiful brown hair I've ever seen. She was so nice to me for no reason."Sarina smiled in a wondering kind of way
"She was nice to you for the reason she's so nice to everyone, because she thinks everyone deserves having people be nice to them." This conversation had nothing to do with the project or anything, but just talking to her was amazing.
"Hey, Darien," She gave him the cutest eyes he's ever seen
"What?" He asked he couldn't help but smile
"You're really good at math, do you think you could help me study for the test on Friday?" Her eyes held his captive.
Even if he wanted too he couldn't say no to her, but why would he want to."Sure, no problem." The next words that came out of his mouth surprised even him. "Do you want to study at my house, today, after school? My mom makes the greatest chocolate-chip cookies in the world." Darien was convinced that her eyes forced him to say that.
A giant smile spread across her face."That's exactly what I had in mind."
"Are you sure you're boyfriend wouldn't mind?" He asked hoping she'd say he would mind, but she didn't care. He wanted to beat the guy up so bad, he was just waiting for his moment. He didn't want Sarina to be on Seya's side. But he wanted to hurt him for every bad thing he's done to her.
"Oh, Seya, I don't think he even cares." She looked away sadly
He hated seeing her like this. "Don't worry," he said putting his hand on hers, making her look up at him, "it'll work out, my mom always says "If something doesn't work out it's for the best in the long run"."
"Thanks Darien I needed that." She smiled warmly.
Ms. Anderson stood up and cleared her throat again. "Class now that you're acquainted with you're partners, I'll hand out the project checklists." She did, then she gave each group a topic. Sarina and Darien got 'War to End all Wars'. "All right class let me explain the project. You and you're partner have to write an essay about the topic, minimum is ten pages, including a bibliography and the cover sheet. You need to make a something as a representation of a situation that applies to your topic. You can make a small skit, act it out in class or tape it. You can chose to make a commercial for a book or something alike to that constraining you're topic . . ." Ms. Anderson went on about the project for the rest of the bell. Next was math, Sarina sat next to him too and he helped her with the problems.
Sarina and Darien walked into the health room. Here everyone sat where ever they liked everyday. Darien was about to turn into his front row, when Sarina pulled the sleeve of his t-shirt.
"Let's sit in the back Darien, please?" She asked pleadingly, so did her eyes.
He pulled his head back for a second. "Oh fine." He hated not being able to resist her, but she seemed to be enjoying it.
She pulled him to a the end of the table in the corner of the room. They sat down. Andrew knew about Darien's's feelings for Sarina, so he didn't mind that his best friend was busy. He knew how happy seeing Sarina made him and he imagined how happy being with her and talking to her must make him. "Darien do you like horses?" She asked leaning sideways against the wall.
"I love horses, I actually learned how to ride a while ago."
A I-am-up-to-something smile played on Sarina's lips. She didn't say a word.
"Sarina what are you planning in that head of yours?" He asked as if he knew her very well.
"Well you'll see and find out." She smiled childishly sticking her tong out at him as the bell rang.
Health was fun that day. Neither Sarina or Darien hurd a word the teacher said, in fact they send th hole bell talking. It was a surprise that when the bell rang they snapped out of it. They got their books and walked out of the classroom.
"Darien, it's so weird your locker is right next to mine." She opened her locked and put some books in there out of her book bag.
"Yeah, I know, it's an office mistake I guess. Not that I ever complained." As he put a book in his locked he hurd her giggle.
"Hey, Sere, what's up?" Asked Lita. "Oh, Darien I need to talk to you." Darien zipped up his book bag and Lita dragged him away far enough, so that Sarina couldn't hear them. "Darien, I know about . . . Andrew told me." She bit her lip and looked away.
"I swear if you tell her-"
"Shh-"said Lita cutting him off."I won't. I like you better then Seya for her. Just. . . All I have to tell you is the side you see everyday isn't her, if she lets you, you'll see that she's not the girl she puts up at school." Lita just turned around and left.
Sarina came running to Darien."What was that about?"
"I don't know," He looked at her, she didn't need to know what he felt for her, her life was messed up enough."I guess it wasn't too important. Come on"
Darien took Sarina's hand and pushed through the busy hallways of the school, he led her outside to the parking lot. He felt her hold on and lightly sinking her fingernails in his skin, he didn't mind. When they got out of the crowd he let her hand go. Still she held on t the sleeve of his t-shirt as if afraid of something. When they got into his car, she let out a relieved breath.
"Sarina are you not telling me something?" He asked as both of them fastened their seatbelts and Darien started the car.
"Why would you think that?" She asked rolling down the window.
Darien backed up out of the parking spot and rolled down his window as he rode down the parking lot. "Sarina you're shaking and you keep looking around and when we were walking in the parking lot you held on to the sleeve of my t-shirt. What are you scared off?" He asked turning into the road.
"Darien I'm not scared of anything." She said looking around.
"It's Seya isn't it? What did he do?" Darien asked
"He didn't do anything, what made you think of that?" She asked nervously.
"A great deal of things. First, you never, not even when it's cold wear a long-sleeve anything all day. Second, Seya was mean to you this morning. Third, is I've seen you look over your shoulder all the time. I can see it. You think I don't know you, but you're wrong."
"Dar-"
"No!" He quickly put a finger on her lips. "I don't think I know you because I think of you as a type. No, I know you, because I've been invisible to you for years Sarina. I know you better then you're friends. I've watched you become who you are, but all I know is," Darien stopped at the red light and looked at Sarina,"you don't deserve to be treated like he treats you." Darien didn't go any farther, he didn't want to sound like he was obsessed over her.
"Darien you don't need to protect me." The light turned red and Darien drove.
He bit his lip, he wanted to tell her he saw the bruise on her arm, but he decided not to."Ok, it's just I don't want you to get hurt, I know you've known me for a day, but just be careful." He wanted to say so much more, but he decided not to.
"Darien, it's ok." She smiled and put her arms around his right arm. "I'll be fine. But thank you for worrying." She kissed his cheek. Neither of them expected that. Sarina didn't know why, but she felt so close to him. She quickly moved away and stared out the window.
They sat quietly in the car. Darien drove and looked at the road. It wasn't long before they got to the small house. Darien parked the car and they got out.
"Darien I'm-"
"Don't, you don't need to be sorry I just . . ."
"Didn't expect it?" She asked
"Yeah, that's what I was gona say." He smiled, he got their book bags from the back of the car.
"I didn't either, it was just one of those things." She smiled.
"Ok," he checked that the doors of the car were locked."Let's get in the house," he looked up."It looks like it's going to rain." They walked up to the porch, Darien took his keys out of his pocket and opened the door to the kitchen. Darien's mother was cooking s always.
She turned to Darien and Sarina." Hi, Darien honey, how was school?"she asked normally, examining the girl.
"Fine mom" He sat down at one of the chairs at the table.
"Hi, Mrs.Shealds." Said Sarina shyly.
"Sarina, is that you? Oh I haven't seen you in years."Darien's mom came up to her and took her hands."Why you look so beautiful and grown up." She took Sarina's hand and spined her around.
"Hey, mom, you remember when me and Sarina were little you make us chocolate-hip cookies all the time? Can you make some?" Darien asked. He didn't mind being ignored, in fact he knew his mom would love having a girl around. To teach her too cook and go shopping with her. All the stuff she could never do with him.
"Sure Darien," she said not even looking at him. She stepped to the stove to stir something. "Sarina I'm so glad you're here, please sit down. How is you're mom?" She asked looking at Sarina.
Sarina sat down. Well Mrs. Shealds I wouldn't know, I haven't seen her since my birthday diner tree years ago, she calls some times just to tell me when she'll need the house for something." Sarina looked down, Darien looked at her as he leaned back on the chair. He pulled up alarmingly seeing she was sad.
He put his arm around Sarina's shoulder "Sarina you ok?"
She pulled back ball of tears coming to her throat."Yeah" She answered weakly.
"Don't cry it's ok." He pulled her shoulders close. Suddenly she got up from her chair, just sat on Darien's lap and started crying into his t-shirt. He held her close. "Its ok Sarina, it's ok, it's ok."
"Oh look what I've done."Darien's mom bit her lip, that where Darien got the habit. "Darien, honey, I'll make those cookies and some hot chocolate milk. Take Sarina upstairs I don't think she wants to be around me. I should have known."
"It's ok mom, I'll make sure she's ok."He got up, holding the slender girl in his arms. "And mom she came here, because I was going to help her study for the math test."
"Ok, Darien, I'll bring the book bags up to you're room in a second."
"Naw mom, I'll take them." He smiled and with the book bags and Sarina in his arms he headed upstairs. She was quietly crying in his arms. She had no idea how his heart was torn with her every tear. Finely he dropped the book bags by his bed and set down on it with her. "Sarina, honey, sweetheart, it's ok, calm down. I'm sorry about you're mom and dad, I know their too busy for you, I'm sorry, just please stop crying."He held her small little body close to him. He stroke her hair gently down. He pulled the ribbon out of her golden hair. It fell out like a drape of gold.
Sarina pulled back her tears and looked up at Darien, he held her head. "Darien, I'm sorry I started crying, I didn't mean to I just . . ." She didn't have any words. A
thunder sounded outside. "Aaaaaa..." Sarina screamed, her arms pulled him close, her arms went around his back and she berried her head in hie chest, so now he only saw her long gold hair.
"Shh.. Sarina, it's just thunder."He kissed the top of her head.
"Darien, I- I hate thunder, " she said sobbing.
"Oh, it's ok, let's close the windows." He tried to move her off of him, but she held on like she was holding on for dear life." Ok, I'll take you with me to close the windows. He picked her up and went around the room, closing all the windows. He had a nickname for her. He wondered if she's like it. He remembered when he studied Japanese. There was an old fairy tail about a prince and princess that fell in love. It was amazing, but what surprised him was that, the Prince's name was Mamoru and it translated to Darien in English, but what he realized was that Usagi, the princess, her name translated to be Serenely, which was Sarina's hole name. In the story Mamoru's nickname for Usagi was Usako. He found it ironic.
"Darien," she looked up at him hurt and puffy eyed
"What sweetheart?" He asked helping her sit up.
"Darien promise me you won't leave me like they did. Promise me, please promise me." She looked up at him. ll of her make up was messed up and Probably got on his shirt, but he didn't care. Even like this she looked beautiful as always to him.
"Honey, I'll never leave you." He wiped the tears and make up off of her face with his fingers.
"Who wants some cookies and milk? asked Darien's mother coming in with a tray with milk and cookies." I brought a sleeping bag for you Darien, because the rain won't stop till morning, and I don't think Sarina wants to go home in this weather." She put the tray on Darien's bedside table.
"No, I don't." She pulled back her tears and took a deep breath.
"I thought so. Darien, you're dad called, he was with one of the partners across the city, it's flooded a bit, so he won't be home today. And Sarina tomorrow you can barrow some clothes of mine to wear to school. I'll bring some blankets for the windows to replace the drapes, so the thunder won't be loud. I know you hate thunder honey."Said Darien's mom to Sarina.
"Thank you Mrs Shealds, thank you so much." Sarina smiled, her lip and her nose blood red from crying.
"No problem" Darien's mom went out of the room.
Sarina got up and picked up the glass of milk. She started drinking it and suddenly some spilled from the glass on her shirt.
"Sarina you ok?" He asked looking at her as she put the unfinished glass on the tray.
"Yeah, I'm ok Darien, I just have incredibly hot milk all over me, but I'm fine" The sarcasm in her voice was impossible not to hear.
"I'm sorry."He pulled tried to pull her closer by her upper arm.
"Ouch, Darien get you're hands off of me." She took a few steps away from him.
"Sorry I didn't mean to hurt you." He said and in the time those words came out of his mouth, she ran to his closet and started rummaging through it. She pulled out an old dress shirt of his."Can I barrow this shirt Darien?" She asked
"Sure, the bathroom, the next room on you're right." He said smiling at her.
"Thanks, "she ran out of the room.
In a few minuets Darien's mom came it, the took down the drapes of the windows and put on the blankets.
"Mom, Sarina's been in the bathroom changing, do you mind checking on her?" He asked as his mother was leaving the room.
"Sure honey." Darien's mom walked by the bathroom, the of was cracked Sarina was sitting on the top of the toilet and rubbing a wet wash cloth on top of her bruises. For a while Mrs. Shealds stood there with a blank expression on her face, then she opened the door and went in, closing and locking it behind her. "Honey, "She said just looking at the bruises on Sarina's arms. "Who did this to you."
"It's nothing Mrs. Shealds, I'm ok."She smiled
"Darling, girl, it's not nothing, just tell me who did this to you."She kneeled in front of te girl
"My boyfriend, but he didn't mean to hurt me. He swears he didn't."
"Sarina, it's not ok, he shouldn't put his hands on you."Mrs. Sheald got up to her feet. "Honey I have a son who used to get into a lot of fights, come downstairs and we'll put some ice on the bruises and some cream to disinfect them and them hurt less." She took Sarina's hand and let her down stairs.
To Sarina this was weird, in her house if her mother was even there, she could be dying and her mother wouldn't notice, but Mrs. Shealds seemed to worry so much and care so much about her, more then her mother ever did. She haven't seen her in so many years, but she treated her like she was her own child.
After a while Darien started to ger worried. Sarina's benn gone for a while and his mom went to check on her and didn't come back. Darien desided to see for himself what was going on. He went to the bathroom door, there was no one there. So he went down stairs. He saw Sarina sitting on the chair and his mom rubbing cream on the hobble bruises on her shoulder.
"Sarina what happened?" He asked running to her.
She looked away, she didn't want him to see her like this.
"I can't believe Seya did this to you. From the bruses I've seen you show you're girls I wanted to kill him, but now he's as good as dead."Darien said in anger, he didn't care what way Sarina wanted to take his words. He pulled up a chair and sat down next to her. "Mom, I'll take care of her." He smiled as his mom went to start diner.
"Thanks, honey." She said.
"Sarina why do you lit him do this to you?" Darien asked gently rubbing the cream into the bruise on her shoulder.
"Darien, I love him, in a way he loves me too. He just doesn't know his strength. He's sorry every time, he promised it wouldn't happen again. He said he's try not to hurt me. He's defferent, he getts angry so easyly,"Sarina didn't know why she was just telling Darien all this, but she felt she could trust him."We have alot of problems. He wants something from me that I can't give him." Sarina's cheeks turned red."Just because any other cheerleader on the cheerleading squad would, doesn't mena I'm like that, just because I'm the captain of the cheerleading squad, doesn't mean I'm the biggest slut out of all of them" She spoke quietly enough, so only Darien could hear.
"I didn't think it was that. I guess it slipped my mind." He made slow circular motions with the cream very slowely down her arm." You shouldn't let him do this to you. Say it's over. End it. You don't need anything to do with him. He doesn't love you, not really, otherwise he wouldn't treat you like this. Sarina, just because you never felt like your parents loved you, you shouldn''t think that the way he treats you is called love. It isn't." He looked at her, her bangs consealed her eyes.
"Darien, how can I know?" She asked looking up at him.
"Why don't you let me show you?" He asked taking her hand into his."Let me show you that he doesn't know how to treat you, let me show you that you don't need to take that from him,"he was wispering in her ear now,"let me show you the world in it's brighttest colors, let me take your pain away. Please..." He said quietly.
"I can't cheat on him, no matter what I can't." She looked away.
Darien let go of her hand and reached into the pocket of his shorts."Here," he put his cell phone in her hands,"call him and say it's over, he doesn't have power over you, your not a toy, not his trophy and aspesially not someone he can treat like crap and know that you'll take it and wait for him to come back. It's not right Sarina, he has no right to abuse you like that. Call him." He wasn't forcefull, he just spoke quietly."I promise you, he will never hurt you again and if he touched even a hair on you're head, I will beat him so hard he'll never walk on the same side of the street as you."
"I don't know about this Darien, what if he doesn't let me go?" She asked.
"He can't do that, just call him, I'm right here." He put his arm comfortingly around her shoulders
"Darien, I'm scared of what he might do to you if he finds out and he might hurt you." She said leaning closer to him.
"Sarina don't worry, nothing's going to happen to me, just call him and get it over with,"he said 'before I die from waiting.' He though to himself.
"Ok,"she said mumbling the numbers quietly as she dialed them with her fingers then holding the cellphone in her left hand she put it up to her left ear.
"Be strong." Darien wispered in Sarina's ear.
"Hi Seya, it's Sarina, we need to talk." She said in a serios tone
"Not now I'm fucken busy" Darien hurd a muffed voice yell out of the cell phone
"Seya, I'm serios, this is important." She said forcefully
"Everything is fucken important to you!" Seya yelled out again, then taking a deep breath he continued."Fine what is it, I'm kind of in the middle of something." He said in a calmer tone, still he seemed angry.
"Seya, we need to . . . we need to braik up."Sarina let out a her breath, releaved she finely said it.
"WHAT!"Seya yelled at the top of his lungs.
There was a voice in the backround, a girl's voice. "Come on Seya, get over here, I need you." The voice sounded vagely familiar.
"Be right there."Said Seya, before talking to Sarina again. "Babe, can we talk about this another time, I'm busy." He used a calm and gental voice.
"No Seya I don't want to talk about this. I'm braiking up with you!" She went from a not calm voice to a louder and angrier one."You hit me and you say it was an 'accedent' bullshit, Seya, bullshit! You're with one of you're girl aren't you and I'm pretty sure you're not just 'helping her with her home work' or your favoret one 'working on a project with her'. I've never seen any of those 'projects' you were working on! You know what I thought I could change you, from the lying cheating bastard you are, but you just walked all over me and I didn't even notice because I thought that was love! You know what I was wrong! I regret every word I've said to you and every day I spend letting you treat me like this! Seya Soma Kou, I don't love you, I'm not you're girlfriend anymore, don't talk to me and don't ever touch me again! This is over." The last tree words were calm. Sarina pulled the cell phone from her ear and pushed the end-call botton, before even hearing what Seya had to say.
As allways Darien's mom had to lighten the situation. "Dinner's ready." Darien's mom smiled. Darien took the cell phone from Sarina's shaking hand. "I'll get you those cookies for desert." Darien's mother knew perfectly well about Darien's little secret, any time she talked to him, Sarina's name allways popped up. So she desided to leave the two alone for a while, Dinner could wait.
After a few minuets of silents and only pouring sound of the rain, thunder came.
"Aahhhh..." Sarina screamed moving closer to Darien
"It's ok, it's just thunder." He petted her head that leaned down on his chest. "Come here, it's ok, it's just thunder." He carefully picked her up and moved her on his lap. She put her arms around him. There was a certain smell about him, it wasn't colone or aftershave, it was probebly just his clothes, but usually colone, aftershave and certain types of loundry detergent made her want to throw up, but this smell didn't. It made her not care how close she was to him, she just relaxed and closed her eyes as she felt his arms hold her. Right now she didn't care about Seya, cheerleading, that test, home work, nothing, she just wanted Darien to not let her go.
Darien felt Sarina just relax in his arms. He was surprized. He looked down at her. 'Seya didn't know what he lost.' he thought to himself. Her hair was still down, she was so beutiful, so inosent, he loved that about her. Her pretty little skirt and her tanktop were screaming inosents. The fact that she was just sitting in his lap, her face hidding from the rest of the world, because it seemed like she only trusted him now. like he was the only person in the world who cared.
"Darien?" She asked quietly
"What, sweatheart?" He answered looking down at her, trying to see her face.
"Do think he'll really leave me alone?" She asked looking up at him, crying again.
"Yeah and if doesn't I'll make him. I'm in Lita's karate class you know." He smiled down at her and wiped her tears away again.
"Thank you Darien, for everything. Even my friends could never make me braik up with him. But you did, I don't know how I could ever thank you." She was looking up at him again. Her eyes were so beautiful like the sky after a rain with a rainbow.
' I know how you can thank me, promise me to be myne and myne only forever.' He thought, but he knew he couldn't ask her for that. "Promise me you won't cry, your eyes are too pretty to be forsed to cry." He wiped the tears from right under her eyes. "You've been crying allmost all evening, I hate to think it's my company." He said with a slight frown.
"Oh, Darien, it's not you, it's defenetly not you." She hugged him.
"No more crying today ok?" He asked hugging her back
"Ok, Darien it's a deal. "She pulled away and smiled again. "Darien I'm starving." She said and as if on que Darien's mom came down the stairs with the cookies.
"Sarina, I see your feeling better."Darien's mom said smiling. "Diner will be in just a second. The cookies are cold, I'll warm them up."
Sarina quickly got up from Darien's lap and sat on the chair next to him, then scooted close to the table.
Before long they were eating diner. Darien and his mom were eating quietly and carefully, Sarina on the other hand was stuffing her mouth.
"Sarina, honey when was the last time you had a home cooked meal?" Asked Darien's mom smiling at Sarina, allmost laughing.
It was a few minuets before Sarina answered, because she was started chewing, so she wouldn't answer with a full mouth. "Mrs. Shealds, do you remember that time, when I was five and my mom was too busy to pick me up and I stayed over for the night, and in after lunch my mom picked me up?" She asked, Darien's mom just nodded waiting for Sarina to get to her point. "That was the last time I had a hone cooked meal." She said going back to stuffing her face with food.
"Oh Sarina that's horrible." Said Darien's mom and that ended the conversation for the diner.
After desert Darien and Sarina went upstairs to try to study. They went up to Darien's room and surprizingly he actually did help her with her math. They lay on his bed. The pillows were at his feet, but her feet didn't reach it. He didn't even notice when she kiked off her flip flops, he didn't really care. Everytime the thunder stroke Sarina pulled close to Darine and he kissed her forehead and told her it was just thunder and it wasn't going to hurt her. In w way she hated that she needed to be treated like a child. But it comforted her knowing that he didn't seem to care. They stayed up studying till mid-night.
Finely Sarina rubbed her eyes tiredly."Darien, I'm tired." She lay down on the bed and turned over to lie on her back.
"Ok, we can go to sleep, tomorow is Saturday anyway." He smiled and got up off the bed closing the math book in his hads and setting it on the table."You can sleep on the bed, I'll take the sleeping bag."He said getting the sleping bag from the side of the room and spreading it next to the bed.
"Darien, do you have a big t-shirt I can barow, I can't sleep in a skirt, besides I don't want to skrew it up." She looked at him with pleading eyes. As if he was going to say no to her anyway. He wasn't.
"You don't need to." He walked to the chair in front of the table and picked up a pretty white nightgown."Here."He put it on the bed next to her. "Mom probebly left it here for you." He yawned walking back to the sleeping bag that he rolled out and sitting on it.
"I'll go try it on."Said Sarina running out of the room. Darien watched the doorway till she came back. He rubbed his eyes in amaze ment whe he saw her.
Sarina acted completely casual like she didn't look like a goddess in that nightgown. She dumped her clothes on the flour next to the bed. "Wow..." Was all he could say.
"Darien, don't look at me like that."She said practicly trying to diappear into thin air.
Darien closed his eyes, put his hands over them and fell back on the flour.
"Darien are you ok?" She asked sitting down next to him.
"Sarina..." Even though he couldn't see her at the moment the picture of he in his mind remained. The nightgown was more the gorges. It had string thin straps, it was a pure white color, the dress was more then a V-cut. From the place where the straps conected to the dress there was inch wide lase, the gown was tight around Sarina's thighs and it got slimer around her legs, the material was so thin and thight around her hole body, he just wanted to tare it off of her, what was his mother thinking? Besides, the inch long lase on on the bottom of the dress hardly touching her knees.
"Darien, come on, I don't look that good." She said as her cheeks turned red.
"Sarina..."He was seriosly at a loss of words.
Sarina didn't know why, but she felt like teasing him. She smiled. "Darien, ust open your eyes." She said leabing closer to him,
"Sarina stop it. You know I can't open my eyes."He smiled, he knew what she was doing, but if she made him open his eyes, it would be her fault.
At this point she didn't think about consequenses. She moved compleatly on top of him. "Darien, sweety, just open your eyes." She pulled his hands from his eyes easyly.
He didn't know what to do, he felt every part of her body on top of his, she lay so perfectly on top of him. There were thoughts in his head he didn't want to have. He didn't want to touch her like that, not till both of them were ready, but she was making it harder them it had to be. "Get off me, Sarina, seriosly get off of me."
"Make me."She dared. She put her elbows on his chest, he could almost see her put her chin on her hands and watch him.
He knew it would take all his strength to open his eyes, get her off him and put her into his bed. The end of that sentence sounded wrong to him. He'd put her in bed, so they could go to sleep, not in the same bed and not the other version of sleep. He convinced himself of that, before openeing his eyes and looking at her. She looked even more gorges now that she lay on top of him. Her breasts lay on his chest, he wanted to just kiss her and no, he had to stop thinking about that right now.
"Sarina get off of me. "He said smiling
"I don't want to Darien, it's so comfortable here." She put her head down on his chest.
"That's it, no more playing games, you're going to bed." He picked her up off of him and getting up with her in his amrs he carried her to his bed. He pulled off a piese of the blanket and slipped her under it. He put the rest of it over her.
"Darien, I wana a bed time story." She said with a sad look on her face.
"Fine, but I warn you I sleep just in my boxers."He stood with his back to her and pulled off his shirt, revealing his musled and strong bakc that you wouldn't expect. He pulled off his jeans revealing his black boxers and his muscular legs. He threw his clothes in the loundry basket. He turned around and she looked at him, his chest was strong, it was like his fase and his arms, a tanned color. His black hair was messy, his bangs in his eyes.
"That's perfectly fine with me."She looked him over. He was a stranger yet she felt like she's known him forever.
"Ok, you wanted a bed time story." He sat next to her on the bed. She wanted to touch him. She remembered Seya, he didn't understand intimasy, she didn't either, but she's read romance stories. With Seya, it was sex or nothing and she never gave in. Now she wouldn't have to. "Do you want me to tell you about Cindorella, it was you're favoret when you were little."
Sarina lyed back on her back. "Tell me about Cindorella." She said smiling
"Ok. One Upon a time, "he started in a misterios voice,"lived a girl with her momy and daddy, "Sarina closed her eyes,"but the little girl's mother dyed. Her father greved and greved for years, but then, in order for the girl to have someone mother-like she could turn too, he found another wife . . . " Darien continued the story, he saw Sarina slowly fall asleep. He continued, knowing she was still listening. Lightning and thunder stroke and Sarina grabbed Darien's hand, but he continued on with the story, a few more thunders came, she only grabbed his hand, she didn't want to inturrupt him. Finely he got to her favoret part. " . . . so finely the prince came into the house where Cinderella, her step mother and her two evil sisters lived. The older sister tryed on the glass shoe, but her oot was too big. The younger sister tryed on the shoe, but her foot was too wide. Even the step mother tryed on the shoe, it fit at first, but she couldn't walk in the shoe. The Prince asked "Are there any other young ladies in this house?" "No, no others Prince, but please take one of my daughters!"She pleeded, but the Prince doesn't care. When he comes out to his carrige, he sees her. He remembers meating her when he was pretending not to be a Prince and walking the streets."Hello," She grasped and looked up, she knew his voice. He came to her "Would you try on this shoe for me Cindorella?" He asked standing down on one knee and putting it on the grownd beside her foot." I'd be honored your magesty." She said humbly. She took her pretty little foot out of the dirty shoe she was wearing and put in into the beautiful glass sliper, it fit perfectly. "I found you!" The Prince said. He got up took Cindorella into his arms. He put his arms tightly around her waists and kissed her. She put her arms around his neck and held him closed. Before long they gort married and were kissing in front of the hole kingdom. Everyone was happy that their new quin to be was a simple girl, everyone but Cindorella's step mother and her step sisters. But Prince Carming and Cindorella lived happyly ever after." Darien finished. He saw tears in Sarina's closed eyes, he wipped them away. "I thought you weren't going to cry again tonight."He said leaning down and kissing her forehead.
Sarina opened her eyes."Darien what if that never happens to me?"
"Sarina, that exactly woun't. But love will, I promise you it will. Now let's go to sleep, I have a great day planned for tomorow." He squised her hand for a second then turned off the light and go into his sleeping bag, it was still raining outside. The monotonic sound of rain made the two teenagers fall asleep, not thinking about what will happen to them next.
