Chapter I: The New Agent
Last time, on NCIS…
"Hello?" Gibbs asked.
"Hello, Agent Gibbs. Stay out of anymore business about the Millennium Items." The voice said on the other line.
"Who is this?" Gibbs asked, earning the attention of everyone else.
"In case you aren't listening, let me explain it to you." The caller said before hanging up.
"EVERYBODY GET AWAY FROM THE CAR, NOW!" Gibbs shouted as he ran clear.
They didn't get within 3 feet before a shot was heard and the car blew up.
"Is everyone alright?" Gibbs asked.
He noticed that there was one person that didn't make it and had a piece of shrapnel embedded inside her skull.
That person was Kate.

It was at least a few days since Kate's death. According to Ducky, the shrapnel through the skull killed her instantly. She was laid to rest with full military honors. The hunt was on to find her killer and bring him to justice.
But it was a surprise that two new people where there at Washington-Dulles Airport when they returned from Tokyo International. One was Gibbs' old flame, Jenny Shephard. The other was a young to middle aged woman of Arabic descent.
"Special Agent Gibbs…I'm letting you know officially that I have been put in charge of NCIS. We heard about Kate, I'm very sorry." Jenny said.
"Alright, who's she?" Gibbs asked in his 'Direct-to-the-point-man-without-coffee-' voice.
Jenny turned and said, "This is Officer Ziva David of Mossad. She's here to help us in bringing Kate's killer to justice. She'll brief your team on the specifics."
"Ok, let's go." Gibbs said.
"Jethro, one other thing, I know that you just came off of solving the Anderson murder and want to kill the person responsible. Just know that you aren't allowed to kill the suspect; bring him in and do what you do best." Jenny said, quieting down a little bit while the others went to the waiting transportation back to NCIS Headquarters.
"I can't promise you that, Jen; only what kind of box he'll be in." Gibbs said.
She turned and asked, "What makes you think that the suspect is a him?"
"Check my phone logs. You'll find that the person that called me was a him." Gibbs said.
"What happened to your forensics expert? I didn't know that she was into Egyptian stuff?" Jenny asked, changing the suspect.
"I don't know, she said it started during our case in Domino City. Personally, I think that she's lying through her teeth." Gibbs said.
As they walked along, they didn't notice two different sets of eyes following them. One pair was violet and watching Abby. The other, a cold brown, was watching Gibbs and the new Director of NCIS, waiting for a moment to punish Gibbs for not taking his warning seriously.

New story, same characters, different reasons. I know that Director Shephard is OOC but I was trying to find a way to connect 'Strange Journey' with the 3rd Season of 'NCIS'. Things are going to be a little more interesting from here on in. I'm also taking a poll: 'Who do you think the killer should be?' The categories are listed below (also provide a why).
