Post Ep: Running Mates
Characters: Josh and Donna
A/N: So this came to me in the shower after Josh's line about being able to kiss someone. I'm sure others out there will write it better, but I felt the need to write something. Enjoy!

Donna looked down at her cell and smiled. She found a quiet spot in the Santos' backyard and answered.

"Evening, Joshua."

"Did you see?"

"See what? There were quite a few interesting things on television this evening. In fact, I just got done watching this thing on the history of bread on Food Network…"

"Ah, smartass, thy name is Donnatella Moss. I meant the debate."

"Oh, yes, the debate." She just smiled. "He did very, very well."

"He did more than well, Donna. He did… I didn't think he could…"

"He did fantastic, Josh, but you should have known he would."

"Yeah, I know, I know, but you didn't see him. I mean, it was bad Donna. It was really bad, but then he got up there and…"

"I know, Josh, I know."

"You should have seen Lou's face when I told her that I felt like I could just kiss someone."

"Then I guess it's a damn shame I wasn't there, huh." The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. She slapped her hand against her forehead and felt like she quit breathing.

He was silent on the other end of the phone, so she took her chance while she had it. "Look, Josh, that was… I'm really tired and it's been a long day dealing with Helen, who's been more than just a little upset and…"

"I was thinking the same thing" he said in return in a quiet and extremely sexy voice. They both sat silent, breathing hard, trying to figure out what exactly had just happened. "I'm coming to Phoenix on Thursday."

"You are, since when?"

"Since now. Can we get some time to…"

"Talk?"

"Yeah, talk and then maybe… well, if you like the outcome of the talk I could take you up on that offer."

She smiled warmly and missed him deeply for the first time in weeks. "That could probably be arranged."

"Good. Look, Donna, I want you to know that…"

She looked up and saw Bram waving at her from inside the house, signaling that they were ready to leave for the airport. "Damn it!" she said loudly.

"What?"

She sighed. "I have to go. The Congressman is ready to leave and…."

"Yeah, ok, it's fine."

"Josh…"

"Donna, it's fine, I promise. I'll see you Thursday."

"Goodnight Joshua."

"Night Donna."

She snapped her phone shut and stared at it for a second before taking a deep breath and heading off to do her job.
