A/N: Here you go! Last in my mini-series (I think... wink). Inkcat, I did get that review, the full version. Thanks. And anytime ANYONE wants to write BA fluffy goodness, that's fine with me. That said, enjoy.

Future Lives

"Goren."

Even over the usual din of a party, her voice carried easily across the room to the corner where he was standing. She saw his head turn, ignoring the sniggers of those who whispered something about the big detective being wrapped around his petite wife's little finger.

"GOREN." Her voice was more insistent now, and more than one pair of "helpful" hands pushed him in her direction.

She watched him come towards her, moving through the crowd gathered to celebrate Deakins' retirement. It had amazed her how far Bobby had come in the last year and a half. He was more outgoing, more... well, she wasn't sure what it was, but when she'd first met him, he wouldn't have started a conversation with others, and nor, for that matter, would they have talked to him. It seemed like he now left his work persona at work, and she loved him all the more for trying.

She looked down at the simple gold band on her finger, smiling at the memory of when he'd put it there. It had been the 29th of December, a day they picked because it was halfway between when he'd first kissed her and when they first said they loved each other. The memory made her grin. He'd gone out and bought a ring January 2nd, talked to Deakins on the 3rd, and proposed on the 4th.

The hard part had been introducing him to her family. She came from a family of cops, and it was an unspoken rule that one did not become involved with one's partner. Even if your captain pulled lots of powerful strings to keep you working together. However, after he'd been sufficiently convincing about his love for Alex, volunteered to allow her brothers a shot at killing him if he hurt their baby sister, and let himself be climbed all over like a jungle gym by her nieces and nephews, they'd welcomed him into the family with a warmth that had brought tears to Alex's eyes.

He wrapped his arms around her from behind, nuzzling her hair, bringing her mind back to the present.

"You called?"

"Mmm."

"Did you need something, honey?" He settled a protective hand over her stomach, his face contorting in confusion as her musles rippled and she winced.

"Well, Bobby, looks like this little guy inherited your social skills, breaking up the party like this."

His eyes went wide. "You mean...?"

"Well, are you going to go get the car?"

His face split into a grin that made him look like a lovable kid. He grabbed both their coats and they headed for the door.

And then they were gone, and the party continued without them, and it was just winding down when Deakins got the phone call, and got to announce to the room that there was a new member of the Major Case squad: David Tyler Goren, born at 9:37 pm.
