Here for You
He loved her. He wasn't sure how, but he did. He supposed it may have started when she first stood up to him, or perhaps when they first met. That, however, was completely irrelevant, for he had only realised he loved her a few short weeks before. On a Friday afternoon, three weeks ago, at about four fifteen pm, to be exact.
He had been having a particularly stressful time with his company, and it showed: he was having problems concentrating; he was more irritable than usual and light blue shadows had appeared under his eye. Not that anyone noticed, or cared. Or so he'd thought. That day he saw her looking at him- her blue eyes tinged with…concern? He dismissed it as a fatigue-induced hallucination, but later that day he saw her look his way again; that same look of compassion mingled with anxiety, and yet again, he dismissed it.
After
school, he was packing his bag slowly, not noticing that only the two
of them remained in the class.
"Hey,
Kaiba-kun is everything alright?" her voice was tinged with worry.
"Hn.
It's none of your business!" he snapped at her and she flinched.
"Well,
uh…"
"What!"
he growled.
"What I
meant to say" she said, regaining her voice "was: if you ever
need someone to talk to…I'm here for you, ok?" she smiled.
"Take care!"
Seto
racked his mind trying to find some sort of acidic come-back, but by
the time he did, she had already left and he was staring emptily at
the space where she's stood but a moment before. He was shocked. No
one had ever willingly offered to help him, but…she was genuine.
And that was the moment when he realised it. He loved her. He. Loved.
Her.
"Great"
he muttered, "as though I didn't have enough problems!"
That was all in the past though, and now he had to somehow tell her before his annoying star-headed nemesis (A/N: His thoughts people, not mine.) snapped her up like he did with the victories to their duels.
He spotted her walking out of the school and sped up his pace, while making sure she wasn't aware he was following her.
"Great. Seto Kaiba…stalker extraordinaire" he grumbled to himself; still, he couldn't suppress a smile at seeing her skip down the road. She stopped, ahead of him, at the swings. The park was quite empty, so she started singing softly as she swung. For this reason, she didn't notice Kaiba sitting down on the swing next to her and was startled by his greeting.
"Oh, hi, Kaiba-kun. What are you doing here?"
"It's a public place Mazaki. I have just as much right to be here as anyone else."
"Sorry" she coloured "I didn't mean it like that…" He smirked.
"I know." His voice became serious again. "You said that if I needed to talk, I should see you. That is why I am here."
She looked at him.
"Did everything work out alright?"
"Did what work out alright?"
"Uh, that thing that you were so worried about a few weeks ago…"
'So I wasn't imagining things….' he thought, but out-loud he replied:
"More or less…"
"So, what's the matter?"
He looked down trying to find some coherent manner of expression, but he could feel her eyes on him.
"You can tell me, it's okay" she spoke softly.
He turned around and looked at her. Words failed him yet again, so he grabbed her hand gently, pulled her close and kissed her. Letting her go, he moved away from her, standing up to leave, but she stopped him.
"I said all there was to say Mazaki!"
"I know…" He looked at her and she smirked "…but I kinda missed the last part. Think you could go over it again?"
He was only too happy to comply.
Note:Here you go people. Nice and short! So R+R and let me know what you think!
