Carson turned back around to look at the Colonel who held his lover's hand till the end and still wouldn't let go of the body.

"John…"

The man shook his head fiercely, "it shouldn't have been, I'm older, not by much but still and I've always had a bit of a death wish, rushing in where angels fear to tread… He was always so paranoid about his health, it shouldn't…" He broke off.

Carson understood.

Because, rationally, statistically, it shouldn't have been Rodney.
