The sun was bright yet again. The sakura trees have bloomed forming a mass of pale pink sakura outside.
As a soft breeze carries some sakura to the sky, I look up.
Hisana, what would you think of me now?
Would you forgive me?
My mind drifts through memories.
I walk over to the sakura tree and pick a single blossom. The wind catches it and it blows away.
So frail, yet it lives to be carried away by the wind in time.
It is time.
The execution of Kuchiki Rukia has begun.
I walk swiftly and silently to where the other captains stand.
Rukia is being guided to the execution ground.
There is no struggle, no protests.
Her face is calm.
She has accepted her death.
More of the captains have arrived.
"Airgato," she says. With an expression of gratitude towards the 1st division
captain.
He lies, we all know that the human intruders will be killed, but we don't say
anything.
Let her have a death with no regrets, with no troubles.
She is lifted from the ground, and she stands tall ready for her death.
The Soukyoku is summoned. A beautiful, fiery creature; destructive and strong.
It advances towards its target: Rukia.
I want to save her but my mind says otherwise. The laws I am bound by do not
approve of this action. I stand and watch. My face passive and expressionless.
I look at Rukia's face.
Tears have stained her cheeks, yet she does not cry out.
The Soukyoku continues to advance towards her.
Her face continues to be stained by tears as she stares at her executioner in the directly.
Hisana, your sister is strong. You would be proud, ne?
The fiery phoenix has stopped.
Why? Is the thought that runs through all of our heads.
I look closely and see a tuft of orange hair. And a zanpaktou, I would recognise that shape anywhere.
Kurosaki Ichigo.
It seems you have come just in time to save Rukia.
Arigato, Kurosaki Ichigo.
