He knew he should have gone to heaven; after all, he had righted the wrong and Shelly was waiting.
As he looked around the streets he noticed these little creatures running around, attacking one another and anyone else around, too. A few had taken it upon themselves to knock down doors, and drag out whoever they could find inside.
Gunshots rang out up and down the street.
It would seem he had not been good enough for heaven, because this certainly seemed to be hell.
Just then, his bird landed on his shoulder. The comforting weight of it felt good.
Not Hell, his feathered friend told him, The Hellmouth.
And with that, the mystical creature downloaded the knowledge into his head, and dropping Eric to his knees. The bird let a little squawk when his resting place dropped, and jumped into the sky.
"Why am I here?" Eric screamed after the bird.
To put the wrong things right. What every Crow does, since the beginning of time, Was the answer as the bird circled over his head.
Then another download showed these little creatures were blameless.
They were just children that a spell had perverted them into this. He had to find out where and why.
He took off at a run, following his bird.
But not unseen.
Willow had just walked up when he took off. And before she could call out, he was out of sight.
She watched as this person she had known all her life jumped over cars and swung from tree limbs and was lost into the night.
"No Xan, not you too," she whispered.
