(KD author notes)
Alright, your author KD right here again!
I'll keep the notes small…
This was basically for the Drabble Contest at the Squffie Love forum (http/s13. ), so please check the site out and maybe even join! You can even vote for my story in the contest, as well as read some of the others.. Heh heh.
The contest was on the theme of Harmony, and had to be less than 500 words.
The song mentioned and sung is called "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie.
O-kay, that's basically all I have to say! XD Please have fun!
Summary: Let's give Squall an acoustic guitar, Yuffie a black electric one, and stick 'em in a band to try to work together. Squffie Love Drabble Contest, theme: Harmony. "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie
(eye contact/ i will follow you into the dark/ harmony)
"…What the heck is this?" Squall looked at the tarnished, acoustic guitar Yuffie shoved onto his lap. He remained out of eye contact and stayed in his uninterested stance on the stone wall.
"The music!" she grinned, holding up a piece of paper of lyrics for herself. "Cloud and Aeris were really serious about us performin' together for them at their reception, ya know?"
She grinned. "We should practice"
He merely scoffed.
So she looked away.
Great timing, Leon thought as Cid came to the alleyway where their rehearsal was supposed to take place. A simple glance, then the man laughed his hoarse voice, "Ah, c'mon Leon, you two need to $#ing practice so you don't sound like shit and embarrass the poor newlyweds!."
He sighed, picking the guitar back up and reached behind for Yuffie and not looking up, "The music?"
Yuffie perked up and gave a squeal of a fangirl, then thrust it in his face, "Better hope you can play better then me."
He rolled his eyes and tried out the first couple chords, "What kind of music is this?" he grimaced at the sound, a little annoyed.
Offended, she ignored him and began her song, "If heaven and hell decide that…" with Squall getting frantic from her unannounced start.
Ugh. Rough beginning.
Well… we still have a while to practice.
And after telling himself that several dozen times…
"You're going too fast!"
"That was totally off."
The bickering flamed up between the two fighters.
"SHIT MAN," Cid, still supervising, blurt out, "You two sound effing BAD. You're lucky you still have a while to practice!" Yuffie and Leon groaned their stomachs out, ticked off at how horrible this was going. "It's… It's like you two've eaten something bad! You're totally off from each other, not playing and not getting any good harmony, or whatever the hell that music stuff is.
"PLAY TOGETHER FER CHRIST'S SAKE!"
Cid stormed off, and now only an almost unified breath was heard.
Squall just relaxed his posture, "Hey Yuffie, how about we switch parts then?" He could feel Yuffie's eyes stare at him again while she moved to sit in front of him as he was handed lyrics.
"Well, I was prepared for this!" she returned to the Yuffie everyone loved, pulling out a slim black electric, Squall grinning to himself of secret admiration.
Practice began anew.
She played the riff that was familiar to only Leon and Yuffie.
He sang with feeling just for her,
And the two with harmony only from one emotion.
"Love
of mine
Someday you will die
You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
The blackest of rooms
If there's no one
beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into
the dark"
And both of their eyes met.
