Authors Note: Okay Guys, I just thought this up while I was staring at my desktop background and listening to music, well this one song. So this is nothing special at all, just a one shot. It's about when Raoul and Christine escape the Phantom's Lair at the end of the movie/play. It's a small conversation that goes on between Raoul and Christine when they try to escape unnoticed. Please don't be cruel I don't know if many will like it. Hopefully you will. Thanks for all you support for my other story, Finally Defying Gravity.
And though I cannot see you
And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life
We cannot separate
'Cause you're part of me
and though you're invisible
I'll trust the unseen
Christine looked around uneasily at the cave her and Raoul were trying to escape.
"Raoul" she thought.
The young beauty looked up at her smiling fiancé. She looked closely as his handsome face. First at his beautiful light blue eyes, then at his now messy blond hair. Then his neck, she sighed guilty. It was her fault that he had a rope burn around it.
That thought was pushed out of her mind when she felt a gaze on her. Looking up, she saw the love of her life staring down with his genuine smile on his face. The smile that made her fall in love even more heavily.
"Raoul" she started "thank you, for coming for me, and- andalmost dying for me."
"Christine, you know that I would lay down my life for you without a second thought. I would do anything for you to make you happy. I love you."
She felt the tears well up in her chocolate eyes again. Suddenly she softly grasped the hand that was canoeing carefully.
"I love you too, forever and always."
"Well that's good to know, now isn't it." he laughed.
"What's the problem darling?"
"Raoul, we going to be happy" it was more of an unanswered question she feared that an actually statement.
Not looking at Raoul and his actions, she felt the gondola stop floating. Christine then felt a body next to her. Looking up, she saw Raoul had stopped rowing and had crouched down, his neck parallel to her face. Seeing the burn more closely she looked away and felt her lower lip tremble.
Raoul tipped Christine's face up to his so that he could look into the eyes of the women he loved most.
"Lotte, Im fine, stop looking at my neck at that. That was my doings not yours. And yes, were going to be very happy together."
"How can you say that," Christine cried "If I wasn't so foolish and listed to him then you would have not had to come down to rescue me, and you also wouldn't have that around your neck."
Raoul pulled her trembling body close to his and embraced her lovingly. He muttered into her hair.
"Yes my darling that is true but even if you hadn't listened to him Im sure that he would have taken you. So either way, I would have lost you. Like I said before, I would die without a second thought for you. That's just the way I am. Sort of stubborn like you I guess you can say."
Christine laughed a little.
"Christine, the past is in the past. You can't change what happened today. You just have to make the best of it and live for the future…"
"Which is with you." She fully smiled and embraced him, never wanting to let go.
He kissed the top of her curly head. "Yes Christine, with me. Now let's get out of here and start our new life with each other."
Raoul stood up and started rowing to the dim light ahead of him.
Him and Christine both thinking of the joys and wonders that would await them once they got out of The Phantoms lair.
The End
