A/N: Answer to a challenge a very long time ago: 'First time', must include the words 'blue' 'hot' and the phrase 'put that away'
Slurred words beckoned him across the workroom. "Put that away."
Will Turner did, running his hand over the cooling, blue tinged steel. He smiled, proud of his handiwork. His first sword. The first time he'd make one without help. His eyes lit up, full of pride, and the boy genuinely smiled -- one of the few times he had since the ship was attacked.
"Back to work, boy." The words found harshness in liquor, but Will no longer cared. Brown would always be the same.
Will turned, wiping hot sweat off his brow. He felt he had found home suddenly.
