Adi Colls looked across the street at Adam Pierson, the supposed AWOL Watcher. She had met him a few times at a few functions at the Watcher Academy and at the research department and Watcher HQ. She remembered how distant, yet friendly he was. He was shy, but quite the gentleman. When he did talk to anyone, he was witty and smart, but he kept his cool even in tense situations. She remembered seeing him at an Academy party, even though parties were against the Academy rules.
Adam soon became a pupil of Don Salzer, the head researcher on the Methos project even before he was actually inducted into the Watchers. Don was also very close to a Joe Dawson, a very kind man who ran his own local blues bar. With Don and Joe's friendship Adam came into the mix, you would rarely see Don or Joe apart at a Watcher get together and Adam would also be with them, always listening, his strange hazel gold eyes watching… They were best of friends, and then one day Don was killed. He was murdered by an immortal named Kalas.
Kalas was arrested on suspicion of murder by a single witness, Adam Pierson. Adam shortly after getting Kalas arrested disappeared, Joe was angry and depressed. Kalas then escaped looking for Methos, which ended in his eventual death on top of the Eiffel Tower by the hand of Duncan MacLeod, Dawson's immortal.
Adi's thoughts: Her Journal
I can still remember the night I worked up the courage to talk to him. It was about five years before the incident with Kalas. We were in the library and he was doing some research on his Immortal, Methos. You know the 5,000 year old immortal that is believed to be myth. However, Adam thinks Methos is very much alive and thriving. And I believe him…
When I went over to talk to him it started off much like any other conversation with a stranger, beginning with the usual introductions. It was awkward at first, but soon enough we couldn't stop talking. I mean we went on about Methos and immortals well into the night. When we left to go home it was already morning. My boss was so angry.
I used to work in the field, but am no longer able, do to an accident. I had fallen while following my immortal and fractured my hip and bruised my tail bone. I will never walk right again or so the doctors said. The head of my department assumed I was a hazard to my field work and to the Watchers, the then had me reassigned. So I was moved to research.
Working in research was very interesting, but I was slightly lonesome though, but Adam was always there to cheer me up. We would have lunch and talk to each other, about immortals, and about my immortal… Ayel. She is 300 years old and is currently a shop owner; she is smart and kind. She loved people and other immortals. It didn't matter if they came after her, she wouldn't hold anything against any one. Even though Ayel is 300 years old by our records at least, there is some question that she could be older, but…
Being a field Watcher was awesome, I mean you got to follow living history, but with that you got to pray they are not killed, and Ayel was my life. I just wanted to go up to her and talk to her. But I know I'm forbidden. And now I am not able to do so even if I wanted to.
As I look at Adam now, his whole aura was subdued, almost sad and depressed, almost as he was when Don died. He really seemed like he could use a drink or someone to talk to. I haven't seen him in a year or two. It's rumored that he is immortal now. That can't be true. I bet he feels so helpless and alone. Watchers aren't allowed to interact with him anymore, but I intend to break that rule... I admit I wasn't the perfect-rulebook-following-watcher, but I knew when to stop. But Adam needs me.
