The Dragon Statue Quest

Chapter 1: Before the Story

by Son of the Specter 992

Before the creation of humans, before the forming of time, on the barren dust ball that used to be called earth, were the seven dragons that embodied the power of the seven forces, water, fire, wind, lightning, rock, light, and darkness. These, almost divine beings, roamed the earth for thousands of years until the gods decided to create life on earth.

The dragons were outraged. They already lived on this earth and didn't think that they could just be sent away from their homes just like that. The gods disagreed. They demanded the dragons leave but the dragons fought for their homes. The war went on for decades until the earth was almost on the brink of destruction.

The gods decided that the fighting had to end there and then. They unleashed their full powers and the dragons cowered in fear. In return for not being destroyed, the winged beasts agreed to act as the servants of the gods. The gods felt no need for them at the time so they took the seven dragons and created seven statues portraying the dragon and its master on a rocky plane of earth.

The gods reformed the earth with seven continents and hid each statue in one continent. With each statue, they placed a candle and an oil plate. If anyone were to need the dragons, they would fill the oil plate with oil and a strand of their hair and light the candle. when they did, the dragon would be their servant and live within that being until his or her death. When a dragon's host would be killed, the one who caused this death would become the new host of the dragon and gain its awesome power and the curse of the terrible crime they committed living in them as well.

They created man and informed them of the dragon statues but greed and power grew over their newly created species and war broke out over the statues. Over three fourths of the new population was killed. The gods knew that they had made a mistake in telling the humans about their great power.

Taking drastic measures, the gods wiped out life on earth. The dragons were returned to their statues and hidden in the earth again. Once again, life was started on th planet, only this time, noone was told about the statues. The gods feared that what had happened before, would happen again. They wiped out every last piece of evidence that would reveal the dragon power except one scroll text which they hid with one of the statues to remind them of the mistake that they had made.

Years went by and people forgot about the gods who created them. Technology evolved and the statue with the scroll was discovered. The god's worst fears were about to come true. Another war was about to start over the dragon statues.
