OC/OC, one-sided Itachi/OC. The older Uchiha had fangirls too. Dark one-shot.

I know she cares for me. I'd like to believe she loves me.

Yet sometimes, I'll look in her eyes and see a flicker. Just a moment, nothing more, when nothing is quite right. Then it's gone, and the world breaths again.

But every time it hits a little deeper, lasts a little longer. She's looking for something in my eyes, something she will never find.

My eyes are brown. She's looking for red.

We don't talk about it. We can't. She won't admit she can't let go, and I won't—can't—make her.

It seems so childish, so unbefitting for chuunin. But that's how it is. That's how it's been since the massacre, the Uchiha tragedy.

And history repeats. Look at Sasuke.

Even closer, look at Sakura. She waits for him, cries for him, won't let go. Just like her, still looking for red.

But an Uchiha doesn't look back.
