Shattered

Prologue:

Drip…

Harry's forehead wrinkled at the slight sound, though it was completely in his head.

Drip…

He was running away again… and he was standing in nothingness again… Harry looked around slowly, observing the quiet darkness that surrounded him. This place had become familiar to him; it was almost home, but not quite. The shadows that covered everything left Harry in a world of darkness. There were no sources of lights, no sounds, except for the sound of his shallow breathing and pounding heart.

This is where he could hide… this was his sanctuary. This was the place where he could be something that he was, and that something was a heavily burden boy called Harry, and nothing more.

The silence made his ears ring with a high-pitched mono-toned sound. He was starting to feel safe again; almost sure that one other was present here, he slowly sank to his knees to lie down. As soon as his thin pale fingers touched the unseen floor below him reflections of red swam around, making Harry downcast his knowing eyes in pain.

"You've brought this upon yourself, Harry." A voice sneered. The voice sounded so familiar, yet he couldn't touch it. He flinched when he heard his name spat out as if it was a distasteful curse.

And it was, for no one wanted to know that part of him, the part that was the real him. Harry knew that no one wanted to get behind the mask; it would ruin their wonderful ideals about their soon-to-be Savior, that he was an innocent child who, though they would never admit this, was to have shed blood with his hands, his wand, tear apart his soul and heart so that they could live on in happiness. He was their sacrifice, in so many words.

Drip…

"I know…" he replied in a hushed voice.

"Oi, you going to get up, mate? It's time for breakfast, and I'm hungry." Ron's whining voice seared through Harry's head, bringing him back to focus at the now. He crinkled his brow in slight disappointment. Again, someone took him out of his safe place where he hid from everyone.

"Yeah," he yawned for good measure, "gimme a minute, would ya?"

"But I've given you about ten, now!"

"Alright, alright… I'm coming…" Harry didn't even need to turn his head to see Ron's smug smile.

As I have lost the disks that had all the ideas I had for them as well as other chapters or I simply got thoroughly disgusted with coming up with ideas. But you guys can kick me right in the ass later about that ; I do hope that you guys will enjoy this story... sighs Yes, I agree, I've babbled long enough. I'll start writing up the next chapter for you who might actually be interested in this... odd story of mine.
