Trapped

She hated feeling trapped.

She couldn't help it, it was the cat inside her. It needed to be free.

Free to prowl

Free to hunt

Free to run

But every night in her dreams she was trapped.

Every corner she turned brought her to another dead end.

Every door was locked

Every window barred

She screamed but no one heard her

She cried but no one came to her

She growled but no one let her out

She was trapped

She yelped so loud that she woke herself up

She had to prowl

She had to hunt

She had to run

She couldn't help it

The cat inside her told her to.
