Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts.
This is in Kairi's Point of view. It's pretty short and straight to the point, I guess. I wrote it pretty quickly.
Things were never going to be the same. He and I both knew that. Sora had family problems and had to move in with his uncle Cloud and cousin, Roxas. It all happened because Sora's parents were getting a divorce. Neither of them wanted Sora anymore.
Stupid parents, Riku had said the day before Sora left. I actually agreed with that. What kind of parents hated their own son's existence?
I miss him now…
Riku knows that. He knew I liked Sora then. Sora didn't know how I felt. When he left, that feeling faded from my heart.
"Did you hear about those two?"
More rumors coming and going. But lately, there have been lots of rumors about me and Riku since Sora left. A lot of them saying stuff like Riku's a friend-with-benefits or he's gay because he was staring at some guy when he wasn't.
I slammed my locker shut. Turning to the side, I saw Riku leaning against the next locker. "Hey 'Ku. What's up?"
I already knew what was up. It was the rumors again.
"Rumors." He muttered coldly.
See what did I tell you? I turned my head. I saw fingers being pointed and heard whispers all around us. A typical day after Sora left.
"That was predictable." I replied as we walked out of the school building as the last bell of the day rang. Riku seemed more pissed off than he usually was.
Heading to Riku's place for a project, I begin to recall a few things.
Riku and I were assigned as partners for a group project in Mr. Leonhart's class. That day, we heard rumors that Riku was my friend-with-benefits and vise versa. Why would they think that? Riku was my best friend. I would tell him everything. Well, almost everything.
The only thing I never told him was who was crushing on after Sora left.
"Why do they think I'm homo?" Riku asked. He already knew the answer to that.
"Because there's one girl who tells him almost everything." I said, emphasis on the word 'almost'. Riku suddenly raised his eyebrow.
"That's right, Kairi. You didn't tell me who you were crushing on."
My heart almost stopped there. I couldn't tell him I was crushing on my best friend. "Only if you give me proof that you're not gay."
He chuckled. "Alright, fine. Kai, there's this girl….I've liked for a while."
"Not enough proof. People will think you're bisexual." I retorted as Riku's chuckles became louder. Probably loud enough for his college brother, Zexion to hear. I hoped not.
"Alright then." Riku simply said. Then, he leaned in and I felt brush against his lips against mine.
I came home. Almost immediately, my cousin Selphie got on my case. She was jumping up and down as I fell onto the couch. She had noticed I had came an hour later than the time I had promised.
"Riku's not gay just so you know." I said, dropping my book bag on the floor.
Selphie's jaw dropped as I pushed some of my red hair from my neck, revealing some kind of mark shaped like lips. My cousin looked like she was about to faint.
"Wait! What really happened?" She asked. So, I told her and she really did pass out.
