Rory walked into the kitchen of her New York apartment. She had moved out of her mother's house a few months ago and was just now getting used to living alone. She got her coffee and sat at the table. Rory picked up the morning paper and skimmed through it. She stopped at the horoscope section and looked for her sign. Under it said You will find you true love today. Rory laughed at her stupid tradition. She drank the rest of her coffee and left.
She went to her office at the New York Times and picked up her assignment of the day. She glanced at it and left going to the bookstore a few miles away for the interview she had to do.
She made it to the Barns and Nobles early. She decided she had enough time for a cup of coffee. She went to the cafe side and ordered her one, then went to a table and looked at her assignment sheet again looking for the name of the person to interview. Rory almost choked on her coffee when she saw the name. Jess Mariano.
Suddenly someone was behind her. "How's the coffee" Jess said with his usual smirk. He came out from behind her and sat on the other side of the table. Rory recovered from for choking and stared at him. He still looked the same since the last time she had seen him. His hair was still full of gel and he still wore his classic jess smirk. Even though his clothes looked more professional than before, he was still the same exact boy she fell in love with years ago. Jess snapped her out of her trance. "You know staring is very impolite" he said in a very sarcastic voice that made you just want to hate him. "You wrote a book" Rory said in almost disbelief. Rory started the interview, asking him questions of the book.
'Wow he has done something with his life, he is so different then I last saw him.' She thought
Rory finished the interview. She got up to leave when Jess handed her his book. "Look inside" he said then left. She left but didn't see him anywhere on her way out.
She got home and looked. On the dedication page it said 'To the first girl I ever loved, Rory.' Below it he hand wrote his phone number. Rory decided she wasn't gonna call untill she saw the newspaper she left there this morning. The horoscope page was open. She picked up the phone "Hello, Jess?"
