Memoirs of the Phantom of the Opera

I am Erik. I have no last name because my family disowned me, and this is my story…

I start when my first true memory, I was five. It was the day I made my first mask at the Gypsy camp. I made it from a spare bit of parchment. When the leader of the gypsies saw he pulled it from my face and threw me in a cadge for people to stare at.

Every day I would get beaten after just a few months my back was so raw that the wounds never healed and they would stay for the years to come. My bed was made of straw and nothing else. My food was no more than a slice of bread and moldy cheese. I got a small cup of water each day. My clothes were nothing more than some torn pants. There were no facilities to use so when nature called I had to go in front of a crowd.

As I grew older I became stronger. Every night I would sing my self to sleep. When the other gypsies went to their wagons I would work on my climbing skills. Whenever we moved to a new location I was tied behind the wagon to walk with the oxen.

I was very skilled with rope. By the age of eleven I was in charge of Stealing head of cow from farms by lassoing them. The gypsies did not know how I could sedate the bulls. They assumed that the devil's child would be the only one able to control the Devil's bulls what they did not know was that I used my voice.

By the time I had lived to be approximately fifteen years old. I was plotting the death of the gypsies. So I used the only skills I had. I through my voice in one direction and I threw my lasso in the other and the leader breathed his very last breath.

I ran until my feet blistered. I saw a stable with its horses outside. I climbed upon a black horse that I had later called Shylock. The name sort have came to me when I first saw the horse, His eyes looked guarded and shy at first until my music soothed him. I rode through France until I got to the Rhine River. In then next month I picked up German. I rode through Hungary, Romania Bulgaria and Turkey. I found my self in Persia five years after I had set off from France.

Disclaimer: I don't own the phantom of the opera in any of its amaizing forms.

A/N This is where the story will start to pick up It will not include a different ending but It will show great depth in the parts of Erik's life that we have never seen before. I have not read Susan Kay(I would like to) So I am just basing this on what I think happened.

Please Read and review. I tried to be good about my time periods but It may get a little sketchy so please let me know – Thank you
