"Where am I?"
When taking a first glance over at the scene, it wouldn't have seemed at all out of place; surely there were plenty of other guys getting glomped to death by mobs of 'aliens' as Athrun calls them. After looking a little closer though, you might see the look of sheer horror on Athrun's face at all of this attention; unlike the other guys who seemed to be enjoying themselves very much. What could make this mob scene so horrific to Athrun? Well, let's backtrack a bit...
It was night before that Athrun watched his first scary movie with his girlfriend, Cagalli, who happened to 'secretly' be an avid obsesser of scary movies. This particular scary movie was about aliens who seemed to be fond of abducting humans and murdering them in various ways; each way more gruesome than the last. To Cagalli, this movie was 'Pfft. Junk on DVD.' To Athrun, this movie made him want to hide behind a couch and gauge his eyes out of their sockets so he didn't have to watch it any longer.
So later that night, after Cagalli had left, Athrun decided it was a good time to take out the trash. What he didn't realize, however, was that he wasn't actually taking the trash out, he was actually dreaming of taking the trash out. Yeah, he fell asleep on the couch and didn't know it. Go figure. But anyways, as he was walking to the trash can, in pitch black darkness, whistling to himself casually, he was suddenly blinded by an extremely bright light that made him think he'd died and somehow miraculously gone to Heaven.
This 'extremely bright light' stayed turned on for quite a while, in fact, it stayed on until he opened his eyes. Again, go figure. Waking up from his long slumber, (and still thinking he was in his dream) Athrun got a good look around what he expected to be his house. The first thing he noticed was that he was definately not in his house. And what is the first thing he says?
"Where am I?" Of course.
The girls that Athrun immediately took to be aliens let out simultaneous shrieks of delight. "He's awake!" one of them shouted. "Oh my God, he is!" another one agreed with a shout-back. More shrieks of delight followed. Poor Athrun was literally stunned into being a mute as they all latched on to an arm or leg, ocassionally pushing each other off of a spot they'd proclaimed as 'their property.' Three minutes later, Athrun found that his entire body had been claimed and was stunned even more when they started attempting to rip him apart.
"Hey, hey, hey! That's enough!" Athrun finally managed to blurt out in fear of his life. "Now can someone please tell me...Where am I?"
One of the alien girls looked up at Athrun and smiled even though she would've liked to call him something like 'a clueless retard.' Athrun waited patiently for someone to respond and someone finally did.
"You're at an anime convention, of course!"
