Prologue: Black Out
As I sat in bed I pondered on the memories of my past. I remembered things like my friends and family. I remembered the times my older brother Souta and my younger sister Miki played tricks on me and the times my parents scolded them. Normally I would laugh right now, but I don't find it funny anymore. Actually I don't find a lot of things are funny. I used to laugh all the time in the past.
It was an accident that began almost a year ago when I was thirteen that started to change me. It was the time my family was visiting a shrine. I knew almost everything about Japan, but I wasn't very interested. In the shrine there was a miko working and talking about ancient Japan. I didn't really care so I just wondered around the shrine.
While I was walking a found a smaller shrine in it I saw a round jewel. It had a weird aura. As I was reaching out to touch it the miko who worked at the shrine came barging in. "Don't touch that jewel!" she yelled. It was too late though. I touched it and a blinding light was sent out from it. I was amazed but then everything started to black out. I was unconsciousness after the light disappeared. I was sent to the hospital and was stated that I was in unconscious. When I did wake up I forgot everything from the time I touched the jewel to the time I woke up. I started to think of what might have happened and then my head began to feel pain.
"Aargh! My head hurts!" I groaned. I got off my bed and headed towards the bathroom. I splashed cold water on my face and went back to my room. I read my clock it was 11:59 p.m. Suddenly I heard the ding-dong sound from the old belfry from our old style church. It was midnight. My head started to hurt again for no reason so I got up. I tried to walk straight but my vision got blurry. I collapsed to my knees and started to gasp for air. I couldn't take it any longer. I collapsed and decided to surrender to the darkness that was surrounding me.
Part 1: To Awaken in a New Home"Nee-san wake up!" said a squeaky voice.
"Leave me alone Miki!" I replied in English. I ignored the fact that the squeaky voice, was speaking Japanese.
"Why are you talking funny?"
"Oh just get out of my room Miki!" I said this time speaking in Japanese.
"Whose Miki?"
"Huh?" I responded puzzled. I thought how could my sister forget her own name.
I started to get up and opened my eyes and rubbed them in disbelief. This wasn't my house. I was in a small room with the little girl I thought was my little sister. There were rice paper doors, unpainted walls, and tatami mats on the floors. I looked at myself. I was wearing a white yukata.
"I'm Michiru remember?" said the girl.
I was too speechless to answer so I just stood there amazed.
"Michiru bring your sister to dinner please." Said a feminine voice.
"Hai! kaa-san!" Michiru replied.
Michiru grabbed my hand and dragged me to dinner. There I saw a boy that was around his teenage years, which I guessed was my brother, an old man, which I guessed to be my grandfather, and a middle-aged woman, which I guessed was my mother. On the small table there was rice, miso soup, and fish. I was so hungry I didn't question anything. I started to eat like everyone else. After I finished my family began to talk. I had no idea what they were talking about after a while so I asked if I could excuse myself.
When I went to my room I started to think about what might have happened. I was guessing that I was in an ancient Japanese time because of the things I saw around me. Maybe I went to a different dimension or maybe aliens sent me here. Gaah! Impossible! Maybe I have special powers that could transport me in different times. Or maybe I'm just going crazy. I decided that if the problem is with time I better find away to get back to my time without messing up the original way time went.
"Oh well better not to think about it!" I said when my head started to hurt.
I lay back on my blankets and went to sleep.
next day"Kagome! Wake up! Yuri, Eri, and Ayumi are here to see you!"
"Hmm?" I groaned as I got up.
"Kagome-chan! Wake up!
"Huh?"
There were three girls around me. They looked like my friends Haruna, Karin, and Mitsuki, but they were wearing kimonos. The Yuri girl was wearing an orange kimono, Eri was wearing a purple kimono, and Ayumi was wearing a green kimono. Maybe they were reincarnations. My mom believed in them but I didn't really believe in the superstitious stuff.
"We wanted to know if you wanted to go to the harbor today." Said Ayumi.
"Yeah my dad said he would take us on his kago!" said Yuri.
" Why?" I asked.
"Oh my kami! You don't know?" Ayumi asked.
"My father heard that there are mysterious black ships in the harbor." Eri stated.
"Anyway, you better change." Tsuki said.
The three left and I started to change into a red kimono I found. When I finished I saw the three standing and talking.
"Kagome-chan you should ask your mom." Said Kaede.
"Umm ok." I replied.
I walked around looking for my mother when I saw her writing calligraphy while watching my grandfather play an old style game called baduk or go in English with brother.
"Kaa-san, may I go with my friend to the harbor? Onegai!" I asked
"Of course you can as long as you have supervision and must I remind you, please be safe."
"Arigato!" I said happily.
I didn't know why but I was happy to go to the harbor.
I sighed and I smiled to myself. Then suddenly I heard a yell.
"Aaah! My dad is going to kill us we better hurry." Yuri yelled.
"C'mon you guys hurry or we're dead." Yuri yelled.
"We're running as fast as we can!" Eri yelled back.
The three of us were running to Tsuki's home because we were late for our little detour. Then, her home came into view and in front was Yuri's father next to his kago.
"Finally!" I said.
"Girls you're here. Now hurry up we must go."
"Arigato!" We all said in unison.
We all took seats in the kago and began to rest. I started to drift off in the kago so I fell asleep.
"Kagome-chan! Kagome-chan! Wake up we are here." Said a voice.
"Hmm?" I said.
"C'mon Sakura!"
"Ok." I said groggily.
I walked outside and rubbed my eyes. I saw it. There was the harbor with the black ships Ayumi told me about. It looked extra beautiful with the sun coming down. I saw my friends in awe looking at the harbor also. I decided to go down to the beach. My friends followed my too. I sat down on the warm sand and started to relax. I never really thought that Japan could be so beautiful so I just awed at it a while until something pinched me.
"Ooow!" It was a crab that pinched my back. I started to run around yelling. My friends started to giggle. Then Ayumi pulled the crab off and threw it in the water. I started to laugh at myself then everyone joined in.
I looked to the ships again and saw some samurai talking to the men that were on the ship. I grew curious as usual and looked closer. There right in front of me was a samurai. Then I looked to the man he was talking to. It was an American. Suddenly it hit me it was Commodore Perry in his famous visit to Japan. I grew more excited. Right in front of me was actual history occurring. I thought for a moment if Commodore Perry came it must be around the 1800's by now or near the ending of the Tokugawa era. I decided to go back to my friends before I did something dumb. I started to walk back to my friends.
The sun was setting fast and it was starting to get dark.
Ping! 'huh wat was that i thought?' i followed the sound unknown to my friends who were marveling at the ships.
"Argh! Chiikuso! Kurose Bakemon (sp?)!" (Shit! Die Monster!) There was yelling in the alley i was passing. I decided to look and the site made my moth drop.
A boy around my age, maybe a year older was fighting this large animalistic creature. I gasped, and apparently he heard me.
He yelled, "What the? GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" I finally got a good look at his face and i was definetly surprised...
'He has dog ears?' i thought and i finally noticed the silver hair and golden eyes. I thought, "Woah i think i've gone crazy."
"Oi baka ningen get the fuck out of here!" he yelled louder as he dodged a swipe from the creature.
Unforetunetly I was planted to the spot inawe...and apparently didnt see the attack coming at me..
It all went in slow motion as the dog-boy, as i deem him, jumped,might i add, really high, and grabbed me. We got out of danger as the wall the creature destroyed could have been me..gulp
"Bitch! Get out of here now!" The dog eared boy commanded
"What did u call me? And How about u?" I questioned.
"I'll be fine. Now run the hell away!"
"Yada!" I said stubbornly!
"What? Argh u..!" He sighed and quickly hit the back of my neck making me black out and see darkness...again.
