Disclaimer: I do not own Crossing Jordan, Jordan Cavanaugh, Woody Hoyt or J.D. Pollack. They belong to NBC.
Summary: Spoilers for "The Elephant in the Room." My take on how the last scene in "The Elephant in the Room" should have continued. Sorry it's so short.
A/N: I finally decided to write a Crossing Jordan fanfic. I hope you all like it. Please leave a review and let me know what you think.
Jordan just stood there staring at the counter not sure what to say next. She wasn't sure what she should say to J.D. but he deserved the truth.
"J.D.," She began feeling a horrible lump in her throat, "I'm sorry… but it did mean something—" She was cut off by a knock at the door. She almost ran to it trying to get away from J.D. and from the truth. Opening the door enough to look out, Jordan froze. It was Woody.
"It isn't the best time right now…" Woody looked at her confused, Jordan pushed back the door to reveal J.D. standing in her apartment.
"I think I'll just come back later…" Woody turned to go.
"No, Woody stay. I was just leaving… seems like I'm not welcome here anymore." He said walking toward them, reaching his pocket. "I guess you'll need this more than me." He handed the ring box that he had been carrying for the last week to Woody by slamming into his chest, Woody was barely able to grab it as J.D. walked out.
Woody and Jordan stood there for several minutes looking at each other a little dumbfounded. Woody was the first to break the silence.
"Well that was awkward…" Jordan smirked at his attempt to be humorous. Waving him in she shut the door. Woody walked over to the counter where J.D. had previously stood setting down the ring box, taking off his jacket. "I guess you told him about—"
"He figured it out."
"I'm sorry, Jordan."
"There's nothing to be sorry about…" She trailed off, "Woody—"
"Jordan—" They both stopped looking at each other giving a tense chuckle.
"Let's take a seat." Jordan suggested. Woody followed her over to the couch taking a seat next to her.
"What does this mean for us Jordan?" Woody was the first to speak.
"Depends on what you want it to mean… I guess… what do you want Woody—honestly."
"I want you… simple as that." Woody covered her hand with his.
"Then… you have me." She said unusually shy. They stared into each other's eyes for the longest moment before leaning for a slow gentle kiss. Pulling back, Jordan laid her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arm through his and laced their fingers together. Woody kissed the top of her head, giving her hand a gentle squeeze to let her know that everything would be okay. Jordan really did hope it would all be okay but the pessimistic side of herself wasn't completely sure, but she put up her white flag and surrendered to the moment.
The End.
