This little drabble is dedicated to my good friend CyborgRockStar as a thank you for her drabble 'Yeah'

Footprints in the Snow

The winter sun glared down upon me. I squinted, yet still gazing at it directly. I smiled as I remembered the date: November the 10th.

No, not my birthday, nor any global holiday, but something equally as important. Today was the day the Bladebreakers formed, three years ago.

I know that we all had our differences, and sometimes we acted more like best of enemies than best of friends, but that was all pushed aside just after the first World Championships. Since then we stuck together through thick and thin and behaved like the real team we were.

I grinned again, realizing how far I'd come. At the beginning of it all I was just a lonely, problematic teenager full of anger, hatred and pain. Now look at me. All that pain has subsided, the anger found a way to vent itself and I no longer felt the same hatred once I learnt to forgive. And who helped me do those things?

My friends.

They stuck by me through my rehabilitation, of sorts. They gave me comfort and encouragement. They gave me exactly what I needed.

Suddenly I was snapped out of my daydream and back to reality.

"Kai! Dude, you gonna hurry or what?" shouted Tyson. He was quite a distance ahead with the rest of the crew: Ray, Max, Kenny, Hiro, Hilary and Daichi.

"Sure thing," I answered, still smirking.

I followed, tracing the path they took.

I stopped halfway and glanced back over my shoulder.

Eight sets of footprints in the snow.

Together.

United.

Forever.
