Author's Note: A story about the Skywalker twins' first steps. I hope I spelled Bail's wife's name right.
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars. I really, really, really, really wish that I did...but Lucas and Lucasfilm LTD. owns Star Wars...I don't.
The Twins' First Step
Beru Lars carefully cut and diced the vegetables for the dinner that night. She stopped momentarily to glance at her nephew who was placing blocks on top of each other. He smiled up at her.
Beru thought about the first time she'd seen him. His eyes had been closed and he was asleep. Now his eyes were open and the blue light seemed to shine through him. He reached for the chair and pulled himself to a standing position. He held on tight as he picked up one tiny foot and set it down.
"Owen!" Beru yelled for her husband, already reaching for the camera to take his holo. He stepped forward, this time letting go of the chair. He placed the block proudly atop the rest and clapped his tiny hands. His bright blue eyes gazed at his aunt as she held out her arms for him.
Owen ran in, expecting the worst only to see his nephew reach out for him. Owen knelt down and opened his arms. Luke hobbled slowly to his uncle and Owen caught the boy as he tumbled into his arms. He watched Luke push himself away and then turn towards Beru. He slowly but confidently wobbled to her.
Beru picked him up and cradled him, "Time to baby proof everything," she said through tears. Owen nodded and said, "After supper, I'll go to Anchorhead and buy a set of baby gates."
Beru set Luke in his high chair where he banged his spoon against the tray. She went back to preparing the meal wondering how Padme would've felt if she had seen that.

Breha Organa picked up Leia Organa and hurried into her husband's meeting room.
"Breha?" he asked, seeing Leia. She set Leia on the ground and said quickly, "I know you're busy but look!"
Leia lifted her miniscule foot and placed it in front of her. She walked towards her adoptive father and held out her hands to take his. He picked her up and set Leia on his lap. "Isn't she precocious?" he asked his visitors.
They cooed and ahhed over Leia, shaking her hand as if she were ten instead of a toddling child.
"Pleased to meet you, Leia Organa, you look just like your mother."
How true that was, Bail agreed silently. He handed Leia back to her mother and Breha walked out of the room, holding Leia Amidala near to her. The precious child that had been granted to her…
She cast a half glance to the sky wondering if Anakin and Padme could see the baby girl taking her first step.
