The Daily News Paper
Dr. Anne Says…
If you want a man to take notice of you,
Then its time that you "stop" noticing him.
The next couple of days she did the night shift, it was okay and the good thing about it was she didn't get to see Lex. She decided after lots of crying that he was not the only guy out there for her, there had to be someone else. She really missed seeing him though, she felt like some thing ripped out her heart, and left her hallow inside. It was getting late and Mrs. Kent left her to close up in half an hour. She put some soft music on and swayed as she cleaned up, she really tried not to think about him but she couldn't help her self. She imagined herself dancing with him, holding her and tickling her in soft areas. But who was she kidding this was Lex Luthor she was thinking about not Clark, but only if… She turned because she heard the bells at the doors ring, "sorry we're closed."
"Well all I want is some coffee, and the paper," like old times he walked up to the counter.
She wished she could ignore him or something but she had too much pride for that, besides he did own the place.
"Right away Mr. Luthor," she poured him the coffee and handed him the paper. He looked up at her and gave her the famous Lex smirk, "Look Lana, I'm sorry you heard-"
"Don't worry about it, its not like we're friends or anything, right?"
He looked at her with black eyes, it seemed to smolder with smoke.
"Well I would like to think about you as more than a acquaintance, I mean I've known you for a while now."
"True," Lana said, "but I wouldn't want my conceited characteristics to rub off on you."
She walked out from behind the counter fuming, and hit her foot against the corner "Ouch!"
She reached down in pain and lost her balance in the process, she closed her eyes preparing for the impact, and she felt strong muscular arms grab hold of her. When her eyes opened she saw these blue eyes staring intensely at her.
"Wow," she whispered.
He smirked again, "you should be more careful Mrs. Lang or you might just fall one day."
She pulled away from him"thank you," she muttered.
She hated that he touched her; it brought back all the memories from before, "Lex why are you here? The Talon closes in five more minutes."
"Oh now its Lex again"?
She stood there, near him waiting, for what? She had no clue, but darn it she deserved something from this man! He brought on feelings she never knew she had for a man. She wanted his lips on hers, his hands on her body, his chest against hers; if he didn't leave she would probably die of want!
"Lana, I came by to let you know, I didn't mean what I said that day."
"Oh" for some reason that's the only sound that came out of her mouth. She didn't mean anything by it but it looked like he took it the wrong way. His eyes brows scrunched some.
"Tell me," He looked directly at her, "why haven't you been doing the morning shift?" His voice turned hard and his question sounded more like a demand.
"I thought it was time for a change. Why? Did Clark ask about me?" Ha! She thought, take that. She smirked, trying to mimic his trade mark to the tee.
"What! Clark has nothing to do with this," Lex exclaimed.
"I'm sorry what are you talking about? What is this "this" you are talking about.
"Lana stop being a brat."
Lana frowned, "how do you want me to act Lex, happy? Do you want me to just pretend you didn't say those things about me? God Lex!" She was fed up with him, to think she even fell for this guy. If only she didn't witness that side of him five months ago. "I really thought you were my friend."
It was cold and she was freezing her but off walking home from one of her friend's house. She normally didn't walk but she had no one to give her a ride, Clark was in metropolis with Chloe, and Lois was visiting her father. She was sort of scared because of all the meteor freaks around lately, she could handle herself but she hated when she was placed in a position to do so. She saw a car coming toward her with its lights beaming, it was speeding and it went straight by, in the next five seconds she heard a screeching sound. She turned around and the car was at a complete stop and now reversing, it slowed down when it got by her. Oh God she thought, not another weirdo, the window rolled down and Lex Luthor came into view. She smiled in relief, "Lex?"
"What are you doing out here!" he asked?
"I didn't have a ride so I-," she shivered.
"Get in the car, I'll give you a ride."
He didn't have to ask her twice, she went to the passenger side and got in, he turned around and headed for her home.
"So where are you coming from?" she asked trying to fill the silence.
"If you must know, I am coming from a charity in Metropolis." She did notice that he was wearing a nice black tux.
"What type of charity?"
"The American Cancer Society, I've gone each year since I was .fifteen."
"Wow, I didn't know that," she said.
"Yeah, hardly anyone does," he paused, and then he glanced at her, "would you like to get some coffee with me?"
"Sure," she didn't have anything better to do.
"You don't have to if you don't want to," his voice was strange. "I mean, do it because you want to, not because I'm a Luthor."
She reached down and rested her hand on his, "relax Lex, I'd never do anything for you just because you're a Luthor, besides I think anyone who does that is a idiot because they don't know what there missing?" she said.
He took a glance at her hand on his, "sure," he said plainly.
At the Talon coffee shop she made him some coffee and they talked for hours, and they were laughing about God knows what.
"You know Lex, I've never seen you smile so much, you actually look different," she felt so giddy talking to him.
"Is that a good thing," he asked?
She nodded in agreement, "you look younger and you don't seem that scary when you smile."
He smirked at her, "Lana if I didn't know better I'd say you were flirting with me."
She could feel her cheeks burn with fire and nerves, she drank some coffee trying to hide it.
She noticed his hands coming towards her, she tried to move away "Relax," he whispered, and he pushed her hair away from her face, his hands brushed her cheek.
The sexual tension between them was growing rapidly.
"Why the American Cancer Society?" she asked, trying to clam her nerves, Oh my God, she thought, was she getting feelings for Lex Luthor?
He stared at her with his ice blue eyes, and that's when she noticed it, his eyes were different, they were not the same cold eyes that she saw when he was doing business with his clients, they were gentle and kind.
"Why did you choose to go to that particular one?"
"Oh", he said finally realizing what she was talking about. "My mother died of cancer when I was just a little boy," he paused, "back then I wished that I could miraculously heal her with super powers or find a potion that would cure her so that she could be hear with me today," His face began to change.
"I would have even traded places with her if I could." His face went back to the Lex the world knew, "as I got older I heard about this charity and told myself that if I help this foundation I would be helping my mom, so each year I donate $20,000."
This man was not the same man, she thought, he was no longer the man in the suit, and that's when she realized that Lex Luthor was not really the evil inconsiderate young rich guy as he portrayed him self to the world.
She wanted to hug him or tell him it was okay, she reached for his left hand and held on to it, she smile at him to reassure him that she was hear for him. They sat in silence for about an hour holding hands, as though accepting this new bond between themselves.

"Lana I'm sorry, but Clark kept giving you those eyes which annoyed the heck out of me."
She stared at him in shock, what did he mean by that?
"What do you care?"
"Lana I don't want him to hurt you again."
What! She wanted to scream, she was so lost with this guy, what does he mean by that?
