CHAPTER 7
THE MYSTERIOUS CHILD WONDER SPIKE
When Rouge finally got to the Chaotix she was ready to tell them her news. She came through the doors exhausted from running, "Vector!"
The green crocodile turned and faced Rouge, "What is it, Rouge?"
"It's Shadow. There's more to his mark than he thinks."
"What mark?"
"The mark on his left hand. It represents the Mark of the Demon."
"The Mark of the Demon? Are you trying to say Shadow is a demon?"
Rouge nodded, "Yes, he even has the power to open the gates of hell on the world."
"But that's doesn't sound right. It doesn't make any sense", Tonya thought it wasn't true.
"Think about it. Whenever you saw that black monster Shadow was never there."
Vector thought for a minute, "Yeah, it all makes sense now. The facility, the train, that's right. It was Shadow."
"So it wasn't Dark after all", Charmy said.
"We have to do something, but what?" Rouge had no idea what to do at the time.
Later at Dark's base Shadow was looking out the window noticing Dark's base was somewhere out in the arctic.
Nails stood beside him embracing on him, "It sure is cold in the arctic isn't it, Shadow?"
"I suppose", he didn't care if Nails laid her hands on him ever since he was put under Dark's control.
"We could get warmer if we share our body heat", she said seductively.
Shadow said nothing he just continued to look out the window.
Dark appeared at the doorway, "Shadow?"
Shadow turned facing him, "Yes, master?"
"I have a task that you and Nails need to do of for me."
"A mission with the man I love? This has got to be a dream", Nails couldn't believe this was happening.
"A child is what you're after, by the name of Spike."
"Spike, my son?" Shadow was thinking of a reason why, "Why him?"
"That child has special powers people wouldn't imagine him having. Except there is a problem for us demons. Spike is known as the one named Nazo."
"Nazo."
"Nazo has the power to seal the gates of hell and that is a flaw in our plan. I want you to bring him to me."
"Why?"
"To kill him now than later."
"Kill him?" One part of Shadow didn't want to hurt him, but the other part didn't want to disobey Dark, "As you command my lord." Shadow and Nails walked out of the room on to find Spike.
Back at the Chaotix everyone decided to find Shadow.
"We have to find Shadow", Rouge said.
"But where this city is huge? He could be anywhere", Vector did have a point.
Rouge's ears flopped down, "We'll never find him."
Then they all heard someone come through the door.
They looked at the doorway and saw a black hedgehog and black bat.
"Shadow and...Nails?" Rouge was confused at the moment.
The black hedgehog faced Rouge and eyed the small black hedgehog in her hands. He smirked evilly.
Not knowing he was taken over by Dark's control Rouge ran over to him and hugged him, "Shadow, you're okay."
Shadow took Spike away from her hands and pushed Rouge down on the floor.
Rouge sat there confused, "Shadow, what are you doing?"
"My job to Lord Dark."
"Dark? So he is apart of this", Rouge got up from the floor.
"Don't take this personal, Rouge. I'm just following my father's orders."
"You mean Dark?"
"Of course him."
Rouge looked over to Nails, "Are you working for him too?"
The black bat nodded, "As long as I'm with your husband I'll stay on his side."
Rouge gritted her teeth in anger.
Shadow held the child closer to him, "We would stay longer, but we must be going."
Tonya was full of anger, "Not so fast!" She took out her fans and threw it towards Nails.
Nails used her witch powers and forced the weapon to hit the wall instead of her, "Nice trick cat, it's my turn now." She ran at her and kicked her down to the floor. She got on top of her punching her.
Tonya struggled to get her off.
Rouge couldn't take anymore, "Nails, stop!" She took out her handgun from her belt and shot at Nails.
The bullet hit Nails in her back. The impact didn't severely hurt her. She looked at Rouge ready to hit her, until Shadow stood in her way.
"Nails, stop you can't harm her."
Nails knew he still had feelings for her, "Why not?"
"Our mission was to take the child not to pick fights."
Nails smirked as she looked at Rouge, "Whatever you say, sexy." She embraced on Shadow pestering Rouge.
Shadow took out a green Chaos Emerald, "Chaos Control! "
Before Rouge could catch them they were already gone. She fell to the floor, "Damn it, no! Spike!" She laid there on the floor crying.
Chloe helped her up.
Rouge looked at her still crying, "How can we stop them?"
Tonya walked up to Chloe and Rouge, "Easy, while Nails and I were fighting I put a tracker on her."
Chloe smiled at her, "Tonya, that's genius!"
Tonya blushed, "It was nothing."
"I'm calling Espio", Vector walked to the phone.
Charmy flew over to Chloe, "Why did they come after Spike?"
"Maybe Dark wants to kill him because Spike has this power deep inside of himself to close the gates of hell."
Rouge wiped away her tears, "He does?"
Chloe nodded, "He is the only one to stop Dark's plan."
Vector walked over to the group, "Once Espio comes over to help, we're going to get Spike and Shadow back."
