When the Rain Falls
Disclaimer: Nope. Still don't own anything.
A collaborative scream was heard through the Great Hall as the thunder clapped loudly for the umpteenth time that night. The thunder storm raging outside was one of the worst Hogwarts had ever seen, so Headmaster Dumbledore had allowed the student body to sleep in the Great Hall.
The Head Girl and Boy were strolling through the puffy, purple sleeping bags Dumbledore had conjured, making sure that everyone was fine. Lily turned around, hearing a sniffle from behind her. It wasn't long before she noticed three first-years crowding around their crying friend, trying to calm her down, all of them close to tears themselves. Lily turned back to James, kissed him on the cheek and removed her intertwined hand from his. 'I'll be right back,' she whispered, heading off towards the crying girl.
James smiled and nodded, watching as Lily made her way over to the distressed group of students. She had only said 'yes' to him a couple of days ago, after he had strictly followed Moony's advice. James looked back over at her. The first-year girl had stopped crying now and she was animatedly explaining something to Lily. Occasionally her friends nodded fervently.
Lily felt James' eyes on her. She looked up and smiled at him, a faint blush appearing on her pale cheeks.
James grinned, watching Lily expertly comforting the younger students. She really is perfect, he thought. She shared a quick group hug with the first-years, who were now wearing bright, tear free faces, before getting up and walking back to James.
'I missed you,' he said, grinning.
'I missed you, too,' she said.
Dumbledore turned from the window in time to see the Head Girl and Boy share a light peck on the lips. She lay her head on a comfortable spot on his shoulder, as he reached over and laced his fingers with hers.
Dumbledore smiled, looking around the Hall at all of the other inhabitants; he looked at the groups of students, the couples, and lastly, at the teachers. He smiled as he watched the people chat enthusiastically, despite the storm outside; despite the terror Voldemort had already invoked in many people, witches, wizards, and muggles alike. Dumbledore smiled sadly, thinking of the countless lives lost under Voldemort's fury; the lives that were lost unnecessarily. Even then, there had been numerous nameless, faceless people that needn't have died…
Dumbledore turned back to the window, a single tear rolling down his aged cheek, watching the rain. The peaceful rain. It falls in uneven patterns, never repeating the same pattern twice…
A/N: Woo! Another story! I was listening to PotterCast, and they had a filk show (filks are when the words of a story are changed to a certain theme - e.g. Harry Potter) and I was inspired to write this by a song written by someone by the screen name of GuruSloth. He wrote a really good filk (and extremely sad :sniffle:) to the song 'Candle in the Wind' by Elton John, which is already a really good song.Hope you guys liked it! Read and review to make my day. :smiles:
SinceI have exams coming up really soon, I don't think I'll have the time to update Accepting James, or post any new stories. I am hoping to get up a new chapter or something up soon after exams though, but there's no guarantee. Sorry! Love y'all lots. :hugs and kisses:
