Hermione woke up the next morning with a huge grin on her face. She had the dream about her Prince again. She still couldn't see his face in the dream, but she was sure it was Ron. She got ready and then descended down towards the common room. Harry and Ron were sitting at a table, and to Hermione's surprise, they weren't playing chess. They were doing homework. On a Saturday.
"It's too bad the world had to end. I was actually beginning to like it," Hermione said sarcastically. Ron turned to look at her. He narrowed his eyes, hoping to look threatening. It didn't work. "It's insanely cold in here. Do you think hell actually froze over?" She gave Ron a triumphant grin. Ron leaned over and captured her lips in a quick but amazing kiss. Hermione blushed profusely. Ron had just kissed her. In front of Harry, in front of everyone. She excused herself and left the room hurriedly.
"Shut it," Ron said to Harry.
"I didn't say anything," he replied.
"You bloody well know what I'm talking about. You kissed my sister, you're treading in hot water right now, mate."
"I'm not going to apologize for that. In fact, I'm going to admit that I liked it. A lot."
"I'm sure you did. No telling what you did after Hermione and I left."
"But we all know what YOU did after you left," Harry teased. Ron glared at him.
"You're not going to make this easy on me, are you?" he asked.
"Why should I? You're the one who won't stop talking about her. You're the one who just kissed her in front of everyone. You're not giving my anything to go easy on you with!" Harry said. Ron's response was throwing a wad of paper at Harry's head. Hermione returned to the room with her usual hoard of books. She sat next to Ron and started pulling parchment out.
"Have you gotten the essay for Professor Binns done yet?" she asked.
"No, haven't even started." Ron said.
"Typical." Hermione criticized. Ron launched a paper wad at her head. "Dobby's going to be angry with you if you keep making a mess," Hermione warned.
"Someone's in a good mood today. Sarcastic, but good. Besides. Dobby would be beside himself if he got to pick up something that touched Harry's head," Ron said. He reached out and touched Hermione's arm. Hermione blushed again, but she didn't get up to leave.
The trio sat in the common room and worked on homework until lunch. ***
Hermione wanted to tell Harry and Ron about her conversation with Malfoy. But she didn't want to break her promise to him. Hermione must have scared the living day out of him when she freaked out about his password. She had almost thought that Draco was her Prince. That would be a disaster, Hermione and Malfoy together. Talk about when worlds collide. Although Hermione couldn't admit that being with Malfoy would be 100% bad. The man was gorgeous. His steel gray eyes always seemed to bore into hers, even when they were just passing in the hallways. And his body was amazing. She wasn't surprised when she saw a set of weights in his room. She smiled. She had been in Draco Malfoy's bedroom! She was sure that she was the
first witch to ever be in his room and not sleep with him.
"Hello, Hermione?" Ron said, waving his hand in front of her face. Hermione shook her head and focused on Ron's face.
"Sorry?" Hermione said. She didn't realize how deep in thought she was.
"We're going to lunch. Are you coming?" he asked.
"Of course I am," Hermione said standing up. Ron smiled at her. He wanted to take her hand, but he figured it was too soon. He was surprised that he got away with the kiss earlier.
They all walked to lunch together. Harry and Ron were talking excitedly about the upcoming quidditch match against Ravenclaw.
"Remind me again, who's their new chaser?" Ron asked.
"She's a second year. Her name's Glaudia Chintzier. Look, she's right there." Harry pointed over to the Ravenclaw table. Ron's jaw dropped.
"That's no girl! That's a bloody ogre!!" Ron yelled. Harry stifled a laugh. Hermione narrowed her eyes at Ron.
"No she's not! She's a person just like everyone else! Who cares if she's nearly 6 feet tall? Who cares if her face isn't the prettiest? I bet she's a really nice girl," Hermione retorted.
"Oh, I didn't realize you were starting O.A.R.S. Hermione. You know... Ogres Are Really Special." Ron smiled triumphantly. That earned him a strong swat from Hermione. She smacked his arm and proceeded to glare at him. The three friends all sat down and started eating lunch. Hermione saw Ron's hand sitting out on the table. She swallowed hard as she pondered what to do. She slowly reached her hand out and snuck it under his. Ron turned to look at her. He smiled and intertwined his fingers in hers.
"Ever famous Potter, I have a note from Professor McGonagall for you," came the unmistakable sneer of Malfoy's voice. Hermione looked up to find his eyes boring into her. A shiver went down her spine. She shifted uncomfortably. Draco leaned over the table to hand Harry his note. The over-sized sleeve of his robe knocked over a glass of milk and spilled down Hermione's front. Hermione shrieked and leapt up.
"Oh, I'm sorry Hermione!" Draco said, the sneering in his voice gone. He reached across again with a napkin and tried to help clean up.
"No, it's ok Malfoy," Hermione said. She grabbed his hand to stop him from helping anymore. A surprising shock ran through her body. She stared at Draco and he stared right back. Ron noticed this.
"If you're done now, Deatheater, then maybe it's time for you to go and stop lusting over my girlfriend!" he said angrily.
"Girlfriend?" Malfoy said confused. Hermione nodded.
"Yes, I'm his girlfriend," she said bravely. Draco rolled his eyes.
"Bloody great lot of kids you'll have. They'll all come out dirt poor and probably be squibbs!" He roared in laughter at his own joke. Hermione noticed that this was forced laughter. She saw a look of sadness in his eyes as he walked off.
(A/N: I'm sorry this has taken a while... I'm more prone to post more quickly if you leave me reviews. Even if they just say, 'hi' I'll be happy. C'mon people. Anyway, sorry it's so short but I'm having major troubles writing right now. Both of my stories. I'm kind of suck in general. Leave me lots of love and maybe I'll get back into it!!!)
