Chapter 1
Jessica came back in the room and said "It's the P.C.P.D. Jessica knew that her dad was probably going to have to go into work.
After Jesse got off the phone he said " They want me to go to work." Jesse saw Jessica let out a frustrated sigh. He gave her a sympathetic look.
Maxie knew there was more to it than Jesse was letting on in front of Jessica, So Maxie said "Let me talk to your dad in private for a few minutes, Okay?"
Jessica nodded and left the room.
Back in the kitchen Maxie said "Okay, Jessica isn't in the room now tell me what the heck is going on?"
"Their transporting Manny Ruiz and they want me to do it." Jesse said not wanting to do it, But knowing he had to.
Maxie sighed and said " Jesse…" "Just promise me you'll be really careful." Maxie said exaggerating on the word careful.
"I promise." Jesse said kissing Maxie and resting his forehead against hers.
Maxie and Jesse heard Jessica yelled "Can I come back in now?"
"Yeah you can come back in now." Maxie yelled.
"So… What was with sending the teenage daughter out of the room?" Jessica asked.
"It was just because something I have to do at work." Jesse said hoping Jessica would leave it at that.
"You don't have to color code everything for me anymore." Jessica said.
"Sometimes you think you can handle more than you can jess." Jesse said thinking that Jessica was a clone of Maxie.
"Fine, just promise whatever it is you'll be careful." Jessica said
"I promise." Jesse said squeezing Jessica's shoulder reassuringly. He kissed Maxie and went out the door.
