He didn't mind not being able to sleep, not when she was lying next to him.
He looked down at the blonde feral who was snuggled into his chest. He brushed a few stray hairs away from her face as she smiled in her sleep and snuggled in tighter.
He used to wonder sometimes why he stayed with them, this little band of outlaws. He stopped wondering when he looked at her. She was everything.
He wanted to protect her from the world. She made out that she was tough enough to take everything life threw at her but he had seen her sometimes, crying, but only when she thought no one was looking.
He knew she'd been through things in her life that he couldn't even imagine and he just wished he could take all of that pain away from her.
He'd had more than his fair share of bad times in the past but none of that mattered when he looked at her.
She was his future. He was going to marry her. They'd have a whole pack of little ferals with her blonde curls and his sense of humour and of course the Mulwray charm.
They'd grow old together and sit in matching rocking chairs surrounded by grandkids. There was nothing he wouldn't do for her if she asked him.
He kissed her fore head gently as he snuggled down next to her.
He fell asleep with dreams of Shalimar and their future children in his mind.
