"How long has it been?"

"I don't know."

"How could you not know? We've been standing out here for hours!"

"There's your answer."

She let out a frustrated huff as the tears flowed freely down her face. They had been together then, so why not now? 'Why not now?', her mind screamed repeatedly. She shivered as the wind swept past her lean, soaked body.

"You're freezing. Let's go, he isn't showing up." He reached for her hand but she pulled away. She looked up at him, her eyes as bright as a child's. They were glossed from her tears. "Don't do that Kai! I don't want you to get sick, that's all."

"I'd rather get sick waiting for him then come out here to find him dead in the morning!" She yelled at him, though her eyes pleaded for comfort and warmth. She turned away from him, and looked back to the dark waves crashing into the shore. She'd wait forever if she had to.

"Kairi, you think I don't care? I've known him since he was born, but we can't do anything about it. We can't find him, and what will waiting here prove?" He said softly as he gripped onto her freezing hand. She looked up at him and he was taken aback by what he saw. She was... smiling. But why? Why would she smile when she felt utterly depressed. He stared into her eyes blankly.

When he came back to realization... he was kissing her.

She kissed him back, but pulled back quickly. "Riku!" She shouted, pulling away from him. She looked at him, but he seemed just as aghast as she did. 'Did I truely... enjoy that?' Her mind raced past everything. Why would she enjoy that if she had loved his best friend for so long?

"I should go..." He said quietly, turning around to walk away. She reached and grabbed his hand.

"No."
