I looked at the sleeping form of Aang. His chest rose and fell slowly, evenly, with each breath. He and Sokka were sleeping soundly, but I couldn't. All I could think about is... Aang. Do I love him?

I also kept thinking about Jet, and how he lied to me. I don't want that to happen again. I know Aang would never hurt me like that, but still...

I lean over Appa's saddle and stare at the ocean, singing into the night...

I looked back at Aang, and was filled with shock. "A-Aang... You're awake?"

He looked at me with those beautiful, sparkling, gray eyes and nodded.

"How much of that did you hear?" I asked nervously.

He smiled at me. "I heard enough."

"I-I-I..." As I stuttered, Aang was moving closer to me. Closer... closer... Then our lips touched. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and his arms slipped around my waist. The kiss deepened, and Aang's tongue slipped into my mouth. I hesitated, then felt my tongue slip into his mouth. I gently pushed on the back of his neck, intensifying the kiss.

After a few moments, we reluctantly pulled apart. "I love you, Katara," Aang said.

"I love you too, Aang." We wrapped our arms around each other and lay down, soon falling asleep.
