Hello. This is the first in a series of drabbles that I'm interested in writing for FFVII. It's going to be based on both events in the games and in the movie, so if you haven't seen the movie there might be some spoilers in there. In this drabble, Vincent is vacationing in Wutai with the rest of them and is stuck 'babysitting' Yuffie. Find out what ensues below. There are going to be more of these. I might even get some people to help me. Enjoy!
The gentle glow of the setting sun sparkled across the land, gleaming underneath the low, rainy haze. The sudden dip in the weather threatened severe storms, and the sharply gusting wind suggested a destructive night even though the last rays of the sun gave hope of peace. Vincent stared up at the low-lying clouds, just trying to make sense of it all. The weather had been unpredictable since the onslaught of Meteor, and even though ShinRa promised good things and even had a hand in eliminating Geostigma, Vincent was still suspicious of them. Sliding a hand through his long, scraggly locks of hair, Vincent slowly turned toward the young lady nearby.
Small and sharp-looking, Yuffie was anything but stupid; though Vincent could have sworn she played the part. He rolled his crimson eyes as he got a good look at the girl. Dressed in a long, lime green-colored kimono, Yuffie was a sight that would make a blind man wince. Bunched at her small waist, the sash was tied in a backwards fashion, causing the large knot to mass directly over her stomach. "Hi Vinny!" Yuffie waved frantically at him, as if she wasn't standing but five feet away from him and abusing his tender vision. Yuffie spread her arms slowly and twirled, allowing the feathered green lace on the fringe of the offending garment to blaze outward like an emerald fire. Slowly, the girl halted her spinning and hopped forward, halting directly in front of the angsty bishounen. "Don't I look pretty, Vinny?"
A solid mean streak went through Vincent, perhaps caused from the demons within. "It looks like a leprechaun threw up on that piece of clothing. And I do believe the offending leprechaun had vegetable soup before you made him resort to such measures."
Tears welled up in Yuffie's eyes slowly as the information sunk in. Tipping her head back, she started to bawl at the top of her lungs. Wailing as loudly as she possibly could, she grabbed Vincent and buried her face into his chest. "You don't have to be so mean!" Continuing to wail, she clutched as close as she could to him as she howled in despair. "I thought I was gonna look cute and you say I'm ugly! WAH!" No matter how hard Vincent tried, he couldn't get the girl unstuck from his body.
Suddenly he got a bright idea. Placing his arms around Yuffie, he allowed his good hand to grace her side and caress her lower back. "It doesn't look – that – bad, I suppose." He glanced down into her face, or at least he was looking down at her hair. He reached up and tipped the back of her head down to look into her face. "You don't look ugly; you look absolutely a-adorable." The angsty man stumbled on the unusual word. The 'A' word hadn't come out of his mouth since – never?
"Really?" Yuffie squealed and bounced up and down on the spot, squeezing him even harder. "I LOVE YOU, VINNY!" Squealing again, Yuffie kissed him on the cheek and shot off to continue accessorizing.
Vincent was left in her dust, staring at empty space. The only thing on his mind was the word she'd used. "Love?"
