Forman's Basement- Hyde, Donna, and Eric
"What's the story about Anne?" Eric asked Donna as he jumped over the couch to sit down next to her.
"Well I don't much about her, but I know she is just turned 17 and I guess that means she is still in high school."
"17? Whoa, well why does she need to rent out a room in Jackie's house? Shouldn't she be at home with mommy playing with dolls?" Eric commented and Hyde snickered, as Donna became flippant.
"Playing with dolls? Two years ago I was 17, and I remember having been pretty hot and heavy with you, which is a far cry from playing with dolls!" Donna said as he punched Eric in the arm. Eric squirmed as he smiled at her. Jackie walked in and took the seat closest the door, she was grinning so wide you could see her molars.
"Why are you so happy?" Hyde asked monotonely.
"I'm so glad you asked, Steven." Jackie said glamorously, "Anne is a wonderful roommate! We are getting along great!"
"That's good." Donna replied.
"She is really talented, she can cook and play the piano…I don't know if anyone ever played that grand piano in my house before her. You know, my parents just bought it for show."
Donna looked down at her lap, Jackie hadn't mentioned her parents in a while, and she didn't want Jackie to dwell on her emotions over being lonely anymore. The main reason was because Donna had no idea how to comfort her and since she broke up with Kelso, Jackie had been coming to Donna with every little problem.
"She pays rent?" Hyde questioned.
"Yea, $100 a month. Not including food or toiletries." Jackie answered happily, she enjoyed this sort of general attention.
"She works?"
"Um," Jackie thought, "No."
"Then how does she pay you $100 a month?" Eric stepped in.
"Her father indirectly pays for it." Jackie explained, "I'm not really sure why she doesn't live at home, but her dad sends her a check in the mail every week. And I'm pretty sure that it's a lot of money he gives her because she has to pay for all her food, and she doesn't just buy like chicken and rice, she always gets expensive food, like filet mignon and stuff."
"That's sort of strange." Donna commented.
"Yea I guess it kind of is." Jackie mumbled.
"Hey Jackie do you know what time it is?" Jackie looked down at her designer watch and said
"Six, are you guys going some where?"
"Yep, today is date night!" Eric tried to say in a suave tone as he stood up and held his hand out to help Donna up.
"Oh boy! A big romantic date…to the hub." Donna said on a flat note but smiled anyway as Eric led her up the stairs. Jackie and Hyde were sitting there in silence for a few minutes.
"Well…" Jackie whispered.
"TV?" Hyde said as he leaned forward in his chair and switched on the television. Jackie watched as the channels went by until he stopped it on Jeopardy. She smiled and moved from her chair onto the couch so she could get a better view.
"Milky Way for 300 please. This planet is 2nd from the Sun." The television droned on.
"Venus." Jackie stated while she opened up the bag of pretzels that was left near the couch.
"What is Venus." Hyde looked over at Jackie as she munched on a pretzel like it was the best tasting thing in the world. He was surprised she knew how to play the game, Jackie always seemed a little dim in his opinion.
"Natives for 200. This small basket is made out of birch bark." Hyde looked at Jackie who looked at him in return and said "What is a rogun." Hyde thought, no way could that be right.
"What is a Rogun, Alex." WHAT! She got it right!
"How did she know that." he basically said this to himself but Jackie answered him as if it was a question anyway.
"I own one. I use it to hold my hair clips." Go figure.
"Uh okay. I bet you five dollars that you don't get the next one."
"Deal." She put out her hand to shake on it, and Hyde reluctantly took it then pulled away quickly.
"Water Cycle for 500. A natural or manmade lake used for the storage of water."
"What is a reservoir. I win."
"Yea right." Hyde watched the tv intently as Billy buzzed in and said what is a reservoir. "Bullshit. That was too easy."
"We shook on it. Fork over the five bucks." Hyde looked at Jackie and how happy she was, now she was holding out both of her hands to him.
"Wait wait." Hyde said, "Double or nothing. Let's wait for double jeopardy." Jackie pouted but agreed sprawled out on the couch more.
"Okay here it is." Jackie said a little less than enthusiastic, she kept thinking she was going to get it wrong.
"The type of clothing you would most likely wear when the temperature is 30 degrees Celsius."
"Easy!" Jackie yelled grinning, "Shorts and a T-Shirt!" Damn the question was about clothes! Of course she got that right too, Hyde thought, now he owes her ten dollars!
"Well Mr. Hyde, I expect ten bucks." She said smuggly, flipping over onto her stomach to look at him. He sighed, and dug his hand around in his jean pocket. Pulling out the ten-dollar bill he held it close to her face, as she put out her hand, he snatched it back, dangling it in front of her.
"What are you going to spend your winnings on?"
"Clothes." She said like a smart ass, but then Hyde started to put the ten back into his pocket, "I mean, not clothes, I'm going to buy…" She thought about what he would want her to answer with, "What wouldn't be pro government?" She asked out loud. Hyde just laughed at her and started to walk away. She sat up on the couch and tugged on his shirtsleeve.
"I know! FOOD" She said this really giddy and nodding her head. Hyde pretended he was thinking about if it was the right answer or not.
"Hmmm..hummm…"
"Oh fine. Keep your stupid money, I don't really need it." Jackie said as she stood up and started toward the basement door.
"Well if you have that kind of attitude I will keep my ten. But food was a good answer." With that he ran up the stairs and Jackie let out a groan.
