A/N: This story is completely the result of what Athosian Girl posted on GW and Omega. She did all the grunt work, all I did was make it into a story.
John normally didn't use paper notes, it was so much easier not to, but this time warranted it. He'd been trying to come to terms with his feelings for Teyla. Kissing her while being turned into a bug hadn't helped things. He thought he'd had her out of his mind, now it was a struggle to deal with his feelings. Feelings that threatened to destroy the trust he'd worked so hard to earn in her.
My heart
Damn it John, he thought to himself. He loved her; he made no attempt to hide that truth from himself. Yet one piece of paper, one simple truth, was so hard to control.
My love
Frack, life ain't a soap opera! John mentally chastised himself for become so attached to her. He'd done everything he could to try and keep her at arms length. But she had done something no other woman had ever done, she'd found who he was on the inside.
To my one
Another piece of paper went flying across his room. He'd seen the look of relief on her face when they'd found him after what had seemed like six months. Correction, six months for him, less than twenty-four hours for them. Yet, out of all of them, he'd caught her expression, almost as if she wanted to cross the distance between them and feel as if he was really there.
Oh he'd felt the longing to do just that. He twirled his pen in his hand, letting his thoughts guide his pen without him really thinking about it. Then he wrote his feelings, plain and simple.
Teyla, I love you.
He tore the paper into a small piece, then inserted it into War and Peace. He'd never be able to give it to her, but at least every time he looked at that piece of paper, he could realize that he really did feel what he thought he felt, it wasn't some dream.
He stood, grabbing his jacket as he went. He'd spent to long and was going to be late for a briefing. Oh well, better to have gotten that off his shoulders, then had to spend the entire briefing looking at Teyla with all those emotions in his mind.
