Title: Obsession

Disclaimer: Nope. Harry Potter still ain't mine.

A/N: Not necessary to review. But it would be GREATLY appreciated. I love reviews. I'd kill for reviews.

------ahh..but obsession is a frightening thing indeed.

Perhaps they hadn't noticed.

Maybe they were too busy bickering childishly over trivial matters.

But anyone who had observed the both of them would have probably noticed that something was wrong. Very wrong. For it wasn't the usual type of rivalry you would see between two boys.

Green eyes seem to always find pale grey ones in a crowd of more than a thousand. And they would glare at each other for a moment, challenging each other, before they start fighting, this would usually result in a broken bone or two. A professor would be needed to break the two apart, and points would be taken from both house.

Give them a minute alone and before you had even left the room, they would have started battering the life out of each other. Somehow, they can't seem to keep their hands off each other. They were fighting in Potions. Charms. Transfiguration. Muggle Studies. Arithmancy. Divination. And if it was not physical, it would be a verbal fight. Professors were getting exasperated at the amount of trouble the two students were getting into. Threats and detentions were constantly handed out, but it had little effect. They would try to ignore each other's presence for a week or two, and then, they would fall back into their routine of bloodied noses and broken ribs. With an occasional hex thrown in.

Many people noticed the way they hated each other to the core. How they would use even the tiniest excuse to hex the life out of each other. Potter and Malfoy were overdoing the legendary rivalry between the two houses, but none of them did a thing about it, besides the usual comment of 'Hey, don't you think you're going too far?' It was, after all, perfectly normal for a Gryffindor to be disgusted by a Slytherin, no matter how out-of-hand it becomes.

"He's going to come now," Harry mumbled absently into his soup. At that exact moment, Malfoy barged through the doors of the Great Hall. It was queer how Harry knew the precise moment Malfoy arrive at the hall, but his friends just shrugged it off as pure coincidence.

Draco Malfoy strode into the hall and sat at the Slytherin table, his back facing Potter. And then, for some weird reason, both of them turned at the very same moment. Silvery blue eyes met shocking green ones. Their eyes locked. A glare would be exchanged. A fight would probably have started by now. But then, something strange happened. A smile tugged at the corner of Draco's mouth, and one of his eyebrows would rise by just a millimeter. The change in his expression was so vague, that if you weren't staring right into his face, you would not have noticed. Harry raised his eyebrows back and suddenly, everything froze with crystalline precision.

Perhaps they really had not noticed that the rivalry between them was not normal. And maybe, just maybe, they were too caught up in their fights to know that they were getting carried away with what was going on between them.

But they couldn't help it. It was a little obsession they just could not ignore.

------it's like a desire, so strong you can't resist it.
