Dream Time

By Jessica Shade

Chapter 1

Jessica awoke with a start, causing the vampire lying next to her to stir.

That dream again.

She shook her head, trying to dispel the dream images.

But it had seemed so real this time. It had felt so different than the other dreams.

Even among her kind, Jessica was an oddity. Very few vampires ever dreamed during the short time they spent sleeping, yet Jessica was constantly haunted by images of the vampiric world. But lately...

Lately, the dreams hadn't been just dreams. Lately, they hadn't been just the memoirs of another vampire.

Now they're---

"Jessica." The rumpled voice of her bed-mate startled her out of that train of thought.

Bed-mate. She hated calling Aubrey that, but it was the only word that really worked for their current situation.

It's not like I'm looking for a confession of undying love. Not that I'd mind though.

She couldn't help but laugh at the irony of her own thoughts. Undying love from the undead.

"Jessica."

"Hmm?" She had retreated yet again into the memories of her dream.

The colors . The scents. They had been so vivid. Even the objects in my dream seemed realistic. I could actually feel that blade against my skin. I could feel the cold and the pain and the--

"What's wrong, Jessica?"

"What?" For a moment Jessica was disoriented, not completely realizing she wasn't still in the dream. "Oh, nothing." She forced herself to be overly gruff. She didn't want to be questioned about her dream.

Not when I can hardly sort them out myself.

" I'm going hunting. Don't wait up for me."

And then Jessica willed herself away. Leaving an extremely confused and annoyed vampiric bedmate behind.

Well? How was it? I'm sorry if the characters are OOC...it not my intention, but its very likely to happen.

O! And please review! (pretty please?) I'd prefer if I wasn't flamed, but if it really was that bad and you feel you really must then be my guest. (But I do welcome constructive criticism!)
