-1He's seen it before. But it doesn't change the way he feels about it. The sun is barely starting to rise over New York City. But he and his partner are out again. He finds it sad that he's not surprised by it at all.
But at the same time, he knows that he has been at this job too long to be surprised by much of anything anymore. So he walks, his eyes looking forward. He doesn't dare look back, knowing that if he does, he'll probably turn and walk away from it all.
His partner eyes him for a moment as they draw closer to their destination. Small voices break into the silence between them. A uniform is nearby, talking to two young children. They both look perfectly calm. He shakes his head in disgust, wondering what the world has come to when two children can stumble upon something like this, but be mostly unaffected by it.
Crime Scene Unit technicians are waiting for them, and so is the medical examiner. He exchanges glances with his partner, before walking forward and crossing the crime scene tape, not bothering look back to see if his companion has followed.
When he does look back a few minutes later, the first thing that catches his eye is the crime scene tape. It seems out of place to him. And the reason for that is simple.
The tape is yellow. And the last time he checked, yellow was supposed to symbolize happiness.
A/N: Being bored seems to be my muse these days...meh. Anyways, SVU is not mine, so in case you haven't realized that by now...wanders away rambling...
