Tolerance
My hands twitch as his mutt of a godfather comes into view, talking happily and animatedly with Lupin. My eyes fly to Potter, and notice him send a vibrant smile in his godfather's direction.
Black.
My hands clench by my sides, under the table, and I know that the loathing and hatred are clear in my eyes, apparent to anyone who bothers to look, but I don't bother to hide it. I look down at my food and notice my hand shaking in rage. I stab my fish none-too-gently and bite into it savagely, hoping that the meal will end as soon as possible so I don't have to tolerate being in the same room, to eat at the same table, as that unworthy mutt.
My eyes scan the Great Hall and I notice Potter at the Gryffindor table, chatting happily with his friends, no doubt about the new existence in the Hall. Our… As Albus puts it – Guest. Unwanted guest, more like. My eyes meet that scum's by accident, and we glare at each other with renewed intensity.
His smile disappears instantaneously and our glaring match ensues. I feel the urge to wrap my fingers around his neck and imprint my finger marks on it – to strangle him, the muggle way. Boy, wouldn't that be satisfying. My wand hand twitches at the thought. He is the one to break the eye contact as Lupin draws him back into their conversation.
My destructive streak boils at its surface and I force myself to turn my anger towards the Gryffindor table. My eyes meet Potter's this time and I notice the worry in them. As soon as I meet those eyes, however, I turn away. I take my last bite, then stand up to take my leave.
Potter.
No, Harry. For Harry, I will suppress my urges and refrain from tearing Black apart. For now, my rage shall be channeled elsewhere.
