Forgive and Forget
(Sheena's POV)
For most people, that day was a normal day. But for me, that day marked my first shot at summoning. I'd trained for years and finally got to that day...to form a pact with Volt, the summon spirit of lightning. Everyone was counting on me, which increased the level of nervousity. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Dark clouds filled the sky, announcing a storm. What a perfect start to that day. As I left the village, followed by Kuchinawa and Orochi, my two best friends, the chief wished us the best of luck. To be on the safe side, we thought it would be a good idea if the Chief stayed in the village. We would've never thought of what was going to happen.
Orochi and Kuchinawa were still learning the ways of ninja, living with their family on the Eastern side of Mizuho.
Anyway, we departed for the Lightning Temple. The Lightning Temple was a tower on a small island, North from Mizuho. There seemed to be a mist surrounding the island. I remember Orochi saying it seemed a little ominous. I don't think I payed much attention to the other things he mentioned after that, nervousity seemed to devour me.
As we entered the temple, the sound of thunder startled us. Orochi was almost begging us to go back, but I couldn't back down. Kuchinawa had to drag him the rest of the way. The room with Volt wasn't too far ahead. I remember it being the darkest room of the temple.
I approached the seal(A/N: Are they even called seals?) and some purple, glowing light formed what seemed like a ball of lightning with red eyes. According to Orochi, that was Volt. I was so nervous I started to stutter in my words, then I realized Volt wasn't doing anything. I paused for a moment but Volt still didn't to anything. I remember asking Kuchinawa and Orochi about this, but they had no idea. I had no idea that Volt was challenging me and was beginning his attack.
Of course, I didn't have time to block and took the full blow of his lightning strike. Then the room got darker, and Volt disappeared. But he didn't go back to his seal. He'd left the temple. I remember falling unconscient after that and waking up on our way back to Mizuho. What I saw after that shocked me. Thunder was striking down upon our village, which was already in flames. But I just watched helplessly as Volt destroyed Mizuho.
The village was rebuilt a few months later, but no one ever forgot this incident. I'm sure they'll never forget and some of them will never forgive. Kuchinawa and Orochi's family died in the attack as well as many other villagers. The chief fell into a coma, which he is still suffering from. I thought Kuchinawa had forgiven me...but he never did.
And today I stand, facing him. He challenged me to a duel and even if I do defeat him, he will not forgive me.
He will never forgive me.
